Young Ian clearly had some issues with his parents. I guess you could say they "inspired" some of his best work.

How about a different spin on Harry Chapin's Cat's In The Cradle?

Doesn't anyone have any heartwarming stories they want to tell about their father?

Maybe a heartwarming story about how much you still hate your father?

Bonne fête papa.
May you live till the age of 104 like your father. ..

Sadly it is the first Father" s Day that I was not able to share and watch my daugher jumping on our bed with cards and presents wishing a happy one to her father :-((

Sorry for your loss SwayStones, it can be a hard day when the Dad in your family is gone.

I have not spoken with my dad in years. Never got along with him. He was a big Beatles fan too and always called the Stones "a bunch of druggies".

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

The father-son relationship can get rocky when the son hits his mid-teens.

Bruce had a few issues with his dad. They reconciled eventually.

Ian Dury had a different view of his pop.

And Ronnie Lane had yet another.

But as Mets announcer Ralph Kiner once said, "On Fathers Day, we again wish you all happy birthday."

That is kind of you, latebloomer but no need to be sorry.
I was thinking about my daughter's point of view but for me i feel much better since he left home and live in another place ;-)

Good to know SwayStones, I thought perhaps he had passed away. I've always been ambivalent about what I call Hallmark holidays. I do like the extra attention as a Mom, but on the other hand it's another day where you have to spend cash on cards that will be read and then tossed a few weeks later.

I understand what you mean, latebloomer.
Too much business involved like the stupid Valentine day.
As a mom, I have kept all the cards, gifts and letters my daughter has given me the twelve last years because they mean so much to me.

That's wonderful, SwayStones. I try to keep as much as I can of the things my kids have given me, but I have three and their father is a pack rat, so I've had to be pretty ruthless about tossing things. Twelve is a very sweet age, enjoy!
