SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THE BEATLES?

6/15/2012

Something is in the works in The Beatles camp, but that's all we know. Producer Giles Martin, son of the band's longtime producer George Martin, says, "It is so secret. [If] I say something, I might as well kill myself, and I will try to avoid that."

Let me guess...Giles Martin, son of George Martin...hmmm...

Perhaps those "Sons of The Beatles" rumors weren't that far-fetched after all.

Yeah would love to hear Sean Lennon again (not), never heard James McCartney sing.

Maybe holgraphic reappearances of John and George jamming along with Ringo and Sir Paul, as they open the shows for the Rolling Stones next year...

Any major session tapes that were lost 1967-1969 anyone know about? Maybe they have been found.

peace

Hate to say it but that is what came to my mind too.

I think they're idiots not to release all their promo films. How hard would that be? They've got remasted soundtracks from 2009 (excepting the live performances like Hey Jude and Revolution). What a stocking stuffer that would be.

I am told by an extremely reliable source that the film Let It Be will finally be released on DVD next year, with extra footage and "making of" documentary, but do not know if this relates to what Giles Martin is talking about.

Maybe, at last, a release of Carnival of Noise, the 14 minute psychedelic tune that McCartney wanted issued on Anthology Vol 2. Harrison vetoed it for some unknown reason.

You could surmise that they found the demo of Child of Nature: the 1968 tune that later became Jealous Guy. Nobody will know, but the sound of barrel scraping is becoming more and more apparent.

Maybe "Now And Then", the third Anthology track, is finally going to be released?

That would be nice. Let It Be has been out of circulation for so long, you'd be surprised how many people think it's an unreleased film.

Thanks tele71 I know where you got your info:-) Wink, wink! Thanks for sharing. Yeah, that would be a great and timely release! About time! And the documentary sounds very intriguing. It seems like that might be what it is. I am still hoping for the alternate album releases that they were thinking about, releasing each album in alternate form with different takes and added tracks. If done right, it could be amazing, like having new albums out from them.

Isn't "Let it Be" already a 'Making Of' movie to begin with?

What about all those Let It Be sessions they recovered a few years back in Holland after being stolen? To be honest, there would have to be a lot of interesting bonus features for me to buy Let It Be. I saw it on a boot last year and it's painful to watch, because they're so tense and obviously on the verge of breaking up. There's very little joyous about Let It Be. Just 4 guys wanting to get out of each other's company.

This is beyond ridiculous. It was okay to release it in 1970, but it's not okay to re-release it now? That would be like pulling all copies of Gimme Shelter out of circulation because after 42 years they've decided that it's too unpleasant.

The Beatles preached love but in the end had little for one another. They started their careers spending too much time together then split for solo careers. The sons are doing it just the opposite. They are getting the solo stuff out of their systems first before coming together.

I'm probably over estimating the intelligence of the average Beatles fan, but I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would care what the sons of Beatles decide to do with their lives.

That Express "news" item you're commenting on is actually from 2008.

Yoko has found a tape of John singing a nursery rhyme to Sean. Paul and Ringo have put it to music and it will be their next single.

Yes. My Beatle source calls it "the making of of the making of".

Giles Martin helped his dad put together the Love album, all remixed tracks joined together, its a really good album.

It's the rehearsals for the Let It Be sessions, and it's the same stuff we've all been listening to on bootlegs since 1969.

Any promoter (worth a grain of salt) should care.

Any promoter that gets mixed up in a sons of Beatles tour is going to lose his shirt. Being a relative of a famous and talented person is not enough. Just ask Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie, and Tito. Who? Exactly.
