Seriously. It makes me sad that so many people feel this way. It's like saying "I'm completely ignorant - now listen to me complain about it".

There has always been crap music, but I can find good music in any time period (granted, maybe not as much now as back then), hopefully a few years down the road we will have forgotten all about the garbage.

Sorry about my math. Getting old. The most disappointing thing about todays so called rock artists is their apathy. None of them seem to say, Yeah the Beatles and Stones were great, but we're going to be better! We're going to be more innovative! We're going to write better songs! Which is what the Beatles and STones did. Young people suck, only this time they suck because they are lame.

I could post literally hundreds of bands. Just hit show #100 over the weekend and I am pretty much ready to move on past classic rock. But I will just post this band I stumbled across in a really random manner yesterday.

The Riptide Movement from Ireland, no idea if they ever even made it out but I will check them out if they ever play LA

I easily came up with over a hundred. Not all guitar/bass/drums but time marches on.

This list is very LA-centric - as much as I claim to be into new

music I haven't even heard most of the modern corporate hipster

bands, I mostly just check out bands from the clubs I like to go to and build a calendar off that.

Jeez, Dan, I wanted to give a fair listen to the videos you posted but I don't have a month. So here's the first few: Sean & Wheeler & also C.W. Stoneking are a little too gimmicky for me. I've already heard the Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Pierce has a lot of promise. I like them better live, which means they're not being produced particularly well. I'd love to hear them with better production and stronger material.

Gaby Moreno, nothing original, more expressive in Spanish.

Paula I Karol, eh.

Zanie Lane benefits from Jack White's production adding a twist making old things seem new.

And here's a group that entertains me in L.A. every chance I get to see them along with their associate group Janet Klein and her Parlor Boys. (The music starts at 1:30 if you grow tired of the patter).

if you want to hear a good rock band that started in the 80's go check out CIRCUS OF POWER. they sound like the doors mixed with guns n roses with a hint of punk

I LOVE the first Circus Of Power album. Saw them in 2009.

Also to address a couple of other things

"nothing original"

"Like that hasn't been done before? "

Well, since the original topic was bands for fans of 60's-70's-80's music, there probably won't be much original by the time I am done posting over a hundred newer bands I like.

i honestly didn't know circus of power still played live. i have the bands 3 albums and then an album by FAT NANCY which was one of the singers many projects. the singer also has albums out by the bands CAPATAIN ZAPPED, UNCLE MAX'S COSMIC BAND and PLASTIC GATOR MACHINE

if you like circus of power i suggest checking out LOVE/HATE. a little more funk in the music and guns n roses in the vocals than circus of power

Yikes! Please don't suggest anyone listen to Love/Hate... Though Jizzy sounded good when I saw the L.A. Guns Acoustic Gypsy taping last year.

That was the last time I heard anything of Circus Of Power. I think it was a one off. Daniel Rey (Ramones collaborator) played guitar instead of Gary Sunshine. 60 min set and literally 15 pay to play bands in several different rooms. Saw a few and they were horrific beyond your worst imagination.

(Traditional Rock/Metal/Punk/Grunge/Soul)

yeah mostly LA bands but a few I caught on tour

PRIMA DONNA

Real classic sound, great live band, see them whenever I can. They

covered @#$%& last time.

ELECTRIC FALCONS

(classic to me who thinks the early 1990's is the greatest perioud

in music history, produced by Jack Endino, turned down a cheap VH

ticket when I found out they were playing)

JAIL WEDDINGS

Possibly my favorite LA band of the past few years though they are

almost completely different now than when they first started. Kinda

hard to keep a good 10 piece together.

PLAINFIELD BUTCHERS

Took almost no effort to get into, just way too catchy

BLACK BEVERLY HEELS

BRAINSPOON

Great live band, killer guitar player

KILL PILLS

DEATH ON THE RADIO

singer also in new tribute band Black Sabbitch

A PRETTY MESS
one of my absolute favorite bands, seen them 24 times

GREEN LADY KILLERS

BLACK KIDS
No idea if they are still together, saw them a few 2008/2009

BEST COAST
Probably a no hit wonder but still massively popular in LA, first 2

DIRTY EYES

DHARMA BUMS
3 guitars with 1 really melodic player

VIETNAMBLA

(okay actually the worst band I have ever seen which is quite an

accomplishment considering how many shows I have been to)

SHE & HIM
M Ward & Zooey Deschanel, this was one of my fave shows of 2010

THE BITERS

GIZZELLE (LA soul singer)

When Roger created the CD Baby page, he was allowed to put several genres, Blues should have been first, then added the other 2.
Anyway, just a bit about the CD, 12 of the 14 songs are original. Roger wrote 9, I wrote 3.He did the engineering and I did the production. It was a fun project, including our gigs at B.B. Kings (which has horrible acoustics) and the Key Club.

BTW, if I knew how to take the songs, which are in my iTunes on my mac, and put them here, I would do it, but I've yet to figure how to do that. I can email them, but not post them in a Forum like this.
