That's my stance as well. I am so grateful for the three releases so far that it's alright to me if they relaese a recent Vegas era show. It seems to make a lot of people happy here so I am glad for them, even though I personally skip this one. I didn't buy A BIGGEST BANG DVD, nor SHINE A LIGHT in any form, so a show without a footage obviously will not turn me on (I want to see Lisa

- but for some reason they leave me cold. There is something there missing that I miss in "my" Stones. Sounds almost like listening to some different band than I have loved all my life. I kind of liked the "blues brothers" sound as it was first offered in FOUR FLICKS DVD's theatre show, but I can't say I am now that happy with it. It surely presents an original form of "Vegas era" sound, and not just typical "copy the originals with big band" policy but I just can't get connected to it (it is not the faceless army of players but also Jagger's non-nuanced vocals sound so forced and weak to my ears. I think Jaggers sings rather boringly in both clips. Charlie is good though,)
But I won't waste more space here to spoiling the party for a product that I will not purchase.

Well it could have been much worse, at least this has an interesting setlist!
If anything, the electric live version of Back Of My Hand in perfect soundboard stereo will be worth the price of admission alone.
The could have, even should have, done many other things, but in the end, the Stones decide what they pick out of all suggestions made to them.

Yeah, but there are far more people here who saw them in 2005-2007 than saw them in 1969, for example. When voting for Best Tour Ever, people are gonna vote for the tour they saw, in spite of all the audio and video evidence pointing to something that was long before their time.
I don't get you. I don't buy the new stuff because I don't like it enough; it just doesn't interest/excite me enough. It is a question of personal taste. I don't have any duty to like/buy anything, anytime this band has ever done, even though the band has given me more pleasure than any music act ever. Is that so hard to accept? That makes me "crying over the past or the lost time"? Strange logic. Maybe that makes me not "real" or "right kind" of "fan" in your book. Never liked the term "fan" anyway. You can keep it.

Why so many IORRians tell us again and again, they don't buy this or that now? So many fans here have bought so much very expensive and low quality bootlegs and waisted so much money and time to listen to those mostly horrible sounds. There is no need to buy anything from The Rolling Stones official releases. But why the hell crying about it so laudly, again, again and again?

This is the same thing I always wonder. I get that people don't like certain periods, but why do they feel such a desperate need to tell us over and over again? Why do they think it's interesting to post that they are not going to buy something, like it's a badge of honor? It's boring. There are literally trillions of things I don't buy every day.
I'm looking forward to this and all of the remaining archive releases. It's better than nothing. I never thought they'd do it. I also like to read/listen to things before I decide if they are good or not.
I don't know what saying "thank you to The Rolling Stones" supposed to be then if that won't do? Besides, thinking how much money and time and invested to Mick & co. over the years, I feel that I am even with them, and not additional 'thank yous' needed... I suppsoe dowloading some random 2005 show is not a big thing in their book, nor in mine, and won't have much impact to our relationship...

I'll second keith56 here. Even though I understand the point of the criticism offered by HighwireC and lamemodem2, I think it is over-reacted at least in this very thread. There is no so many expressing their disinterest or disappointement to this product. And even if there are, it is well justified. We have all followed the bootleg series with high interest, and so giving an opinion of a new product is expected here (that's what I thought: it felt like almost a duty to say something). All opinions matter. That's why this forum is interesting to follow.
Frankly, I tried to be as diplomatic as I can in my first post, knowing the sentiments of likes of HigwireC (and especially seeing the enthusiasism shared by many for this release in this thread). I seemingly failed.

Don't take it personally, Doxa. I don't want to hurt you. But I'm a little bit pissed off by all those posters who declare again and again and again how bad The Rolling Stones are nowadays. OK, I feel disappointed too, sometimes. But there is no need in crying. I'm not a fanatic fan, hope I'm a realistic one.
And btw. I don't ask for to much enthusiasm, I found it very hard to follow all those "I've got a ticket now!"-threads here, too. But these days are gone for a while now, unfortunately.
And yes, I'll live in hope, still ...

Ross, your post above almost convinced me of show's relevance. A very good post that one. Always look on the bright side of life, like they say... Yeah, I will keep my eyes open to see the reflection here - basically all the releases have been positive surprises, when people actually have heard the results, so why not this one, too.
Anyway, like pointed by someone already, this release - if it happens, of course - seemingly changes the nature of the releases. It is not any longer famous bootlegs nor typical example show of a given tour. Let's see if his is an expection to a rule, or will this open a whole new possibilities for the next releases.

All cool, HighwireC. I understand that my post opened, or was a tip of ice berg sort of thing to, a larger stream of criticism, and I felt it was not perfectly rightful. But I know that I am one of the most big mouthed "Vegas Era" critics here, so maybe I did deserve that!...

Hopefully this is a signal that they are really opening the vaults and we won't have to worry about whether we will get shows from 1971 or 1966 or any other tour...they may eventually release them all.
However if they want to release a club show from Toronto, El Mocambo would seem the legendary choice.

Unique setlist, club vibe, only 3 warhorses, 6 songs performed for the first time, guitar jam in the middle of "Infamy" (according to those who were there), radical re-arrangement of "19th Nervous Breakdown",a couple of extremely rare cover songs; etc. I suppose if they felt they had to represent their latest tour in this series this was the show to pick, assuming that they were as on fire that night as those who reviewed the show said they were (or were they just carried away by being in the club with The Stones!).
I am not a huge "Bigger bang" tour fan at all, but I think this will surprise. I welcome something different (only 1 song that was on Brussels was not also on LA Friday). We still have, at the very least, 2 more releases. I am encouraged that they are releasing a show that has not circulated so there is hope that something really special could be next.
Unless, of course, somebody faked that artwork!

I'll be purchasing this release, but I have to concur with Doxa: it's al matter of taste. IMO, purchasing everything Stones-related, doesn't make you more of a 'fan', anyway. You either like the Rolling Stones or you don't. Vegas-era doesn't hold a lot for Doxa. Well, for me, the 78 Tour doesn't particularly grab me. I would rather listen to a decent '95 theatre show than Texas '78.

The problem with many of the modern recordings for me is the guitars are to far back in the mix and don't sound the same way they do on stage without being filtered through a pa. If clearmountain can fix this I think this could be a good show. Just my. 02¢

I think your $.02 is dead on, Nanker. Even though it was a disaster, "Live Licks" was a modern recording with a pretty sweet mix. Guitars right up front! I am hoping that will be the type of mix we get on this.

I don't want to come across as a cranky old codger because I'm not interested in a concert from a tour I just saw. And the Stones themselves put out an excellent DVD compendium called The Biggest Bang. The absolute only missing thing is 'Back of My Hand', which was a killer for those of us who were lucky enough to see the earlier shows in 2005. This is the same thing I always wonder. I get that people don't like certain periods, but why do they feel such a desperate need to tell us over and over again? I'm looking forward to this and all of the remaining archive releases. It's better than nothing. I never thought they'd do it. I also like to read/listen to things before I decide if they are good or not.

I'll second keith56 here. Even though I understand the point of the criticism offered by HighwireC and lamemodem2, I think it is over-reacted at least in this very thread. There is no so many expressing their disinterest or disappointement to this product. And even if there are, it is well justified. We have all followed the bootleg series with high interest, and so giving an opinion of a new product is expected here (that's what I thought: it felt like almost a duty to say something). All opinions matter. That's why this forum is interesting to follow.
Frankly, I tried to be as diplomatic as I can in my first post, knowing the sentiments of likes of HigwireC (and especially seeing the enthusiasism shared by many for this release in this thread). I seemingly failed.

Don't take it personally, Doxa. I don't want to hurt you. But I'm a little bit pissed off by all those posters who declare again and again and again how bad The Rolling Stones are nowadays. OK, I feel disappointed too, sometimes. But there is no need in crying. I'm not a fanatic fan, hope I'm a realistic one.
And btw. I don't ask for to much enthusiasm, I found it very hard to follow all those "I've got a ticket now!"-threads here, too. But these days are gone for a while now, unfortunately.
And yes, I'll live in hope, still ...

I just don't get poo-poo-ing something that hasn't even been heard yet! I will roll the dice and risk the $4.99! Hey, if it comes out and there are 40 pages on a thread talking about how great it is, you can always break down and grab it!

And the Stones themselves put out an excellent DVD compendium called The Biggest Bang. Ross, your post above almost convinced me of show's relevance. A very good post that one. Always look on the bright side of life, like they say... Yeah, I will keep my eyes open to see the reflection here - basically all the releases have been positive surprises, when people actually have heard the results, so why not this one, too.
Anyway, like pointed by someone already, this release - if it happens, of course - seemingly changes the nature of the releases. It is not any longer famous bootlegs nor typical example show of a given tour. Let's see if his is an expection to a rule, or will this open a whole new possibilities for the next releases.

All cool, HighwireC. I understand that my post opened, or was a tip of ice berg sort of thing to, a larger stream of criticism, and I felt it was not perfectly rightful. But I know that I am one of the most big mouthed "Vegas Era" critics here, so maybe I did deserve that!...

I guess that some fans here will be satisfy if a post 00's show surface as the youngest of us have seen the STONES only during the 00's.
Everyone here got the right to get some satisfaction.
If most of us want a ABB show, let's give most of us a ABB show.
Just for the legend, it should have been better IMHO, to release at least, for the true 50th anniversary, a live show with Brian (Yes I know, If ABKCO say yes and so on...), and also a very good 1970-1971 show...but that's only my 2 cts.

I think it says a lot that they are releasing this SPECIFIC show...it just goes to how special even they think they it is. Considering, they themselves (Mick, specifically) know exactly what standard they're working with now considering the first three releases they've released--I think we should expect something very cool out of this--otherwise it wouldn't be released.
ABB left a huge bad taste in everyone's mouth but as I mentioned earlier, this tour started off with a different band that ended it. I mean, let's remember the great moments like Saitama. A wonderful show. Well, this release is the first performance of the tour...the rehearsal gig...right before all the BS starts to settle in where Keith and Mick and whomever goes through the motions and starts phoning it in. The earlier to catch the Stones in the tour--the better. They're excited and actually invested in playing. These are their first shows in after their hiatus--you can tell they're having a great time.
I absolutely love the first few shows of any tour--even the Vegas ones. That's the only time I see the real Stones again. When they're unpolished and sloppy. You just don't get that by the time they're in their 30th or 50th show. They smooth out all the wrinkles and that's when Vegas Stones rears its ugly head.
