I remember in 1987 there was a UK tv documentary about the Sgt Pepper Album, it was called "It Was 20 Years Ago Today". That was 25 years ago... how time flies

Hard to believe that Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were left OFF this album so they could be "saved" for a single! This would never happen today.
I was just in Liverpool for the first time. The shop of the "barber taking photographs" is still there (different owners though). It really was emotional for me to see these places.

Very cool and very happy for you. I've never been to UK, and would love to go. Perhaps next year.
Have toured through the continent though, on a Eurorail pass for two months 25 years ago this summer. A year after Dirty Work and it was a lull in my love for the Stones.
Have a great trip Tele.
BTW, leaving Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane a bit like leaving off We Love You/Dandelion/Child of the Moon off TSMR or JJF off Beggar's or HTW off LIB.
Would never happen today.

I'm glad they were left off. Though that's what you did at the time.
What I find fascinating is that at ages 24-26 (ages of the Fabs at the time of Pepper, unbelievable, really) they were already reminiscing about childhood (which seems to be a theme in UK psychedelia). Maybe I did, too, at that age. I certainly do now.

wonder if they released this as a single to coincide with the movie, which was also released in '78.
I know I'm in the minority, but I really loved the movie lol

They actually started a release campaign of Beatles picture sleeves. It was amazing how many re-charted and some great new singles, like Birthday. That was when vinyl was still the master and 45s were stuff collectable.

Those Eurorail passes were the bomb. Do they still have those?

Eurorail doesn't work in the U.K. You need a BritRail pass. I actually paid less buying point-to-point tickets, but tell me this: Why is Manchester to Liverpool 11 pounds, but Liverpool to Birmingham (much farther with fewer stops) 9 pounds?

Cares is to be spelled without s - should be "I care".
