you have mentioned here. And I have never met a fan of the Rolling Stones that is stupid, for whatever that is worth. I find the vast majority of posters here to be nothing short of brilliant. And the passion? The knowledge? It is out of this world. The Stones must be thrilled and consider themselves very lucky to have such remarkably loyal fans.Quote

He can't be thewatchman or stonescrow. thewatchman and stonescrow are the same person, so he's got to be both or neither. Take a wild guess which.
Ugh. You must be trying so hard not to use the word "mate" in your posts.Quote

The names of these characters (the watchman and stonescrow) are interesting. I have heard rumors that the Stones either listen in here themselves or have employees or volunteers that comb these types of sites on a regular basis checking "the pulse" of the fan base. I have heard these people referred to as "watchmen". Crows are very "watchful" creatures.

I can be whomever you want me to be, mate. It's only rock 'n roll.
People that are grieving the loss of a loved one will often see their loved ones in others still living. These characters must have been very special to some around here. Not sure I can ever fill their shoes, but I will do my best to honor their memory. Since they are no longer with us.

Basically they ought to do what Johnny Cash did the last 9 years of his life. Release as much as possible, with Don Was as Mr Rubin.

I've always thought Colonial was in there amongst the rest of them as well.
We should sign him, her, them, up as SybilFromDownUnder...then we can only have to worry about one big group of annoying threads.

What is your opinion of my three year plan for the Rolling Stones? Would it be a giant stride towards silencing the critics and the "Vegas" stigma? Would it, (ultimately) enhance their legacy?

Considering how little they've done as a band since 2007, you've really seemed to amp up the level of activity for them...I don't think they'd have been that busy since the 60s-70s, and now THEIR IN their 60s-70s.
From that perspective, you can have as elaborate a plan as you want, it just simply isn't remotely grounded in any sense of reality.
Not to pour water on an otherwise fine 3-Year plan. Though, I think the Comecon would prefer to see future contributions from you as 5-year plans. 3-year plans are a bit bourgeois.
That would be in more keeping with proletariat tradition.
Let's drink to the salt of the earth.

The choice is theirs. They can tour with no new material if they want, and close out doing nothing but the classics, but the critics will still be there and the "Vegas" stigma will still be hanging over their heads, forever.

You're overanalyzing. To the 99% of the planet that is even aware of them, the Stones are 'Satisfaction' or 'Start Me Up' and the lips/tongues logo.
Their legacy is cemented. I'd love for them to come up with a new killer album but whether they do or not will not effect their legacy one iota....nor should it.
They have too strong a reputation. Even KR's LIFE will be a mere footnote.

Good comments. But what about how they will ultimately be viewed by rock historians? I think they could go a long way towards shedding that "Vegas" stigma by focusing in more on writing and performing new songs. The "knock" against them (even by their peers) is that they can't write anymore and have become nothing more than a nostalgia act.

Rock is a bit of a dying art, so I don't think we need to worry about 'rock historians' writing new history in the future. By virtue of saying they've 'cemented their legacy', I think that essentially means the real history is already written.
Your desire to 'secure' their legacy does not withstand the fact that anything they do from here on in will not tarnish or enhance their legacy.
They will go down in history as the most successful band in history.

The names continue to (d)evolve but still posting these ridiculous stupid threads about worthless 'ideas' of and for the Stones, whoever they are, after BV made it abundantly clear that that kind of crap was not welcome anymore.
Alas, it's back, in 4D.
Their legacy? The Stones? A few people that used to be a band as I last knew. The Rolling Stones as a band essentially ended after the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour ended in 1990 since Bill quit.
The Rolling Stones as a brand/money making machine started in 1994 (yes I know they were pretty much a brand before that).
No legacy to worry about - it's been done for years. Everyone on the planet with a brain knows that Tattoo You was their last 'big' LP that did anything for them. Of course, what they'll really be remembered for is The Big 4, Some Girls and Tattoo You as far as being a band/artists/a creative force.
Then there is the money legacy, which will always be admired certainly.
So there's nothing they can do to "enhance" their legacy.
However, what exactly are "select shows"? Aren't ALL shows "select shows"? I mean, they're not "playing" a "show" when they're not playing. Therefor ALL SHOWS are SELECT.
Hey mate, yer just enhancing yer stupidity!

You were supposed to capitalize Skippy out of respect. There are those of us who revere Skipstone's memory and no quote from the wonderful lyrics of "Monkey Man" can ever do the name justice. When he was on, the man could be a laugh riot. And his passion for the music was without question.

Why the agression and name calling? And on a social internet forum. You may not like the thread, so why even waste your precious time responding like this? There is a lot of anger, why not just skip the thread. Ignoring far more productive than getting yourself frustrated and angry over something you have no control over. If BV wants to he will delete the thread, but you also invite him banning you for beign overly agressive and resorting to insulting fellow IORRians. Peace and move it on down the line.

I have no respect for mean spirited bullies, none whatsoever. Do you think any of the Rolling Stones would approve his behavior? We are supposed to be family.
