The difference between England and Sweden: a goalkeeper and a brilliant goal. After the 2-3, Sweden didn't believe in a good result anymore. They're out now.
First half was terrible - so many bad passes. It was a nightmare to see.
And why Zlatan as a midfielder, he is supposed to be in the box and score goals and not being a playmaker - he seemed to be very heavy / slow with lots of bad passes.
Don't think England will do well in the quarterfinals.

Expect somethin' from England's team and they won't be there
Don't expect anything and they will be there...
Same goes for other teams, but it works very well with England.

Which games do you want to watch live in the last round? My list is:

Poland - Czech Republic
Portugal - Netherlands
Croatia - Spain
England - Ukraine

My list too, but I'll switch between Croatia-Spain and Italy-Ireland.

Although that may have been discussed here before but how cool it must be for Jack white to have stadiums full of soccer fans chanting the riff of a tune he has written years ago; I'm talking about "Seven nation Army". I heard it for the first time a couple of days ago while watching Germany-Netherlands.Somebody knows how it started?

England are not a good team: it's the same old form of flattering to deceive. I seriously saw doubt rather than faith last night.

Greece is leading with 1-0 against Russia after the first half. Very surprising.
There has something to be done by Poland and Czech: still 0-0 after the first half. If nothing changes, both are out.

The Czechs score the first goal in the match against Poland. Certainly not undeserved. Meanwhile Russia has problems: they have to score now in order to stay in the tournament.

Russia and Poland are out.
Congrats to the czechs and greece.

Sensational! The first Dutchman can go home: Dick Advocaat ('the little general') has lost with his Russian team and the Greeks are through! Congrats for Greece. I'm happy for them and they can use a bit of joy!

Pity the Poles are out too. One host (the first of both?) out of the tournament.

And a bad day for my prediction: I had chosen for Poland and Russia. And also for Sweden. All three are out. And Holland (also chosen) will very probably be number four! So it seems I'm out myself toosad smiley

As sad the result for Poland and the players from Polonia Dortmund is I am sure the Polish will remain great hosts! Greece deserves some joy, but the result for Russia is frustrating. Tomorrow will be a thrilling night!

I've moved my bedroom TV to the living room so we can watch two matches at the same time. It's essential in times like this. winking smiley

So far I predicted one quarterfinalist correctly and one incorrectly. That could've been worse...

to me, the rules to qualify are not especially fair.
In the Group A, Russia and Greece were tied.
Russia had a better goal average but as Greece won the confrontation game, they are qualified.
I prefer the better goal average rule, it rewards the team that scored more goals than others that have a tendency to play in defence

Some notes from an "outsider" - who surprisuly has not this time (hahaha) his own national team there in fire, and thereby not any big favourities...

Wow, Greece - and not for the first time - showed why this is such an exciting game. Congrats and thanks for them!

But what happened to Russian team? They played three halves - a game and a half - great football, dominated the matches (4:1) and then totally lost it (0:2), and surely didn't deserve anything more they actually achieved it. Vodka bottles already opened up during the Poland game?

About my other neighbor - I honestly feel sorry for Sweden. Maybe it is the Nordic Country solidarity or whatever, but I find myself and other Finns cheering up Sweden in the Friday night thriller when I watched the game in a local English pub. That was news to me (and especially concerning that English football is so much followed here). Anyway, good to see "our" coach doing so well (Hudgson).grinning smiley

Okay, another thrilling night to come... Good luck to all ya 'more' concerned here; let's see how the Dutch team does in the field and also in your competition heregrinning smiley. My prediction still is that Holland makes it through, even though my heart is with Denmark.thumbs up

Hi rollmops (german?),

the riff of Seven Nation Army has become an almost "traditional" football chant, at least here in Dortmund! I think it was "born" back in 2006 during the wordl cup. Even my 4year old son runs through our garden, singing "deen, denn denn denn denn, deen, dé"!

FBC - ole, ole!

I like the singing by the Irish, the Czechs and by whoever. But what I really disgust is the German 'Sieg' yell. Especially the way they do it. Typically German. One always thinks they'll add the 'Heil' as well. Fortunately they never do. But that repeated yell has something threatening to me.
