All that vibroto when using thw whammy bar. Sometimes it sounds like a turntable being bumped. I think it's out of bordom. When did beck start getting carried away with it?

Probably, he wanted to sound different.

Personally, I like natural vibrato the most, and a whammy bar should be used sparsly, a couple of times per song tops, imo.

Beck would not want the job. He commented a while back regarding his involvement during the Black and Blue session, and he stated as much. Beck is a brilliant guitarist, but his style is completely different from anything the Stones do. Plus the man hates to play on stage - he has severe stage fright, and that is playing the small venues. How is he going to be in front of tens of thousands?

Where did you read that? With stage fright, people get sick. They really get quite sick. Jeff is nervous just before a gig, that's a fact. It's ok and gets the best out of a musician. Playing small venues is scary: there are only a few rows. In big arenas you only see a few.

If it looks like a Rolling Stone, smells like a Rolling Stone.....then why not? What an awesome weapon to have in the arsenal. Maybe we re-name the band, The Super Stones! It's never too late to improve your product.

I have always thought Jeff Beck would have been a great edition to the Stones, especially today, with so much uncertainty surrounding Keith. Now, in no way am I saying he replace Keith, because there is no Rolling Stones without Keith Richards.

Would love to see Taylor, Wyman, Wood, Beck, and Richards all on the same stage working their magic. Is it too late?

The information comes from someone who has performed with him.

Well, its been said before that he would probably prefer to work in his garage on automotive work than play the guitar. I never knew if that was true or not, but......

I remember a guy who I worked with thought it would of been "cool" if Paul McCartney would of taken Bill Wyman spot after he left. I thought is was the stupidist remark I ever heard in my life. To this day I can't understand how dumb people are.

It appears that way. Any chance that Mick was considering adding Beck to the 2012-2013 Stones line up has probably gone out the window.

I'd love him to do guest spots with the Stones but I don't think I'd like him to actually join the band, and I don't see it happening.

Some guesting isn't out of the realm of possibility. I don't think it is just coincidence that Mick and Beck have been hooking up lately. Only time will tell.

On the SNL gig, Beck kissed Mick on the cheek after they'd finished playing and I could see real chemistry and comraderie between them..it was cute! I think that he would add a lot to their sound but over a long period of time, who knows what might happen with the egos. Mick sure does like things his way on stage. I bet Ronnie would feel a bit put out...how would Ronnie fit in?

Ronnie's ego has never been a problem - that's why he got the job in the first place, and has kept it. And as funny at is even Keith's ego should not been a problem any longer since, according to his own words, Keith doesn't consider himself (anymore) as a guitarist. He is an "entertainer" who actually, if we look his recent CV, is best known for his bestseller book and Walt Disney movie roles. So no problam there..grinning smileygrinning smileygrinning smiley

Move Ronnie to bass for all concerts that Bill can't play! I say this with tongue in cheek, but Ronnie is a marvelous bass player.

I guess Ronnie could be passive about it , after all, he has taken a load of S*** from day one. Fans whined that he was no Mick Taylor and others complained that he should have stayed with Rod! He has to have thick skin, I just meant that with Beck playing in the band, what would he actually play?? Bass? Maybe.

Didn't MJ tongue Ronnie on SNL in '78?? It's all good.

Jeff Beck is to the Rolling Stones what Freddy Mercury could have been for Motörhead.

lmfao just thinking of Lemmy and Freddie having a go of it. Nice HMN.

I'm sure he's not the man with Mick Taylor still around and playing so well. I would like to hear the combination for one or two shows though. Mick Taylor and Keith AND Jeff Beck all rippin' on Monkey Man Gimme Shelter. Could be interesting. peace
