Time To Make Jeff Beck A Rolling Stone!
Date: May 26, 2012 23:27

If it looks like a Rolling Stone, smells like a Rolling Stone.....then why not? What an awesome weapon to have in the arsenal. Maybe we re-name the band, The Super Stones! It's never too late to improve your product.

I have always thought Jeff Beck would have been a great edition to the Stones, especially today, with so much uncertainty surrounding Keith. Now, in no way am I saying he replace Keith, because there is no Rolling Stones without Keith Richards.

Would love to see Taylor, Wyman, Wood, Beck, and Richards all on the same stage working their magic. Is it too late?

Exact same words I heard when I suggested that the Stones fire Brian Jones and hire Mick Taylor 43 years ago! I am not saying to get rid of Keith!

Shut off the computer, go outside, and throw some burgers and hot dogs on the grill. You'll feel better.

If they do play out again, they're going to need some kind of guitar additive. If, as has been rumored, they stage a limited number of miniresidencies in major cities, I could see Beck, Clapton, and others (even Macca -- why not?!) as special guests each night.

Are you saying the Stones wouldn't benefit by adding Jeff Beck?

But why not take it a step further and make Beck a Stone? There has been line up changes in the past, why is it forbidden now? Nothing wrong with improving your product.

I'm saying you would benefit by putting on the Indy 500, laying down on the couch, and taking a nap.

With all respect, the Stones don't fit -with the exception of Mick Jagger.

So you have no real opinion on Jeff Beck as a Rolling Stone?

Sorry. I've agreed with some of your postings, but can't agree with this one. Of course we all have our likes and dislikes so I'm all for you liking it. I just don't. Beck with Mick is fine but just doesn't fit the Stones. It wouldn't improve the "product" for me but would just dilute it. He's good....but he's not a Stone. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

So you have no real opinion on Jeff Beck as a Rolling Stone?

It's about as likely to happen as a Sons of Beatles Tour (how're ya doin' with that, btw?), so there's really no point in discussing it.

Jeff Beck is to the Rolling Stones what Freddy Mercury could have been for Motörhead.

You are right about one thing, the Indy 500 would definitely put me to sleep.

Didn't think you could come up with any legitimate reason why Jeff Beck wouldn't be a great addition to the Stones.

He may look like a stone, but he can't play like a stone.

What are they gonna do? Fire Keith? Besides, it's a little late in the game to add a new official member, don't you think? That's why they never officially replaced Bill, because even in 1994, it was already too late to be adding a new official member.

Actually, that's what my wife and I did today. Great weather here today, so we really enjoyed our BBQ in the backyard. And you are right, we are both feeling great. But I must admit, we also had a couple of beers ... that might have helped too smiling smiley

No Richards, no Stones, I said that! I don't think it's too late, but I did ask others what their opinion is, so thanks. You may be right, it might be too late in the eyes of the ones that would make that decision. I can't see the world caving in for the Stones if they suddenly announced the hiring of Jeff Beck. I think it would be a great addition and it certainly wouldn't hurt them at the box office in any way.

It would be within Keith's legal rights to veto such a move, which, I am sure, he would do. Enough of this. I'm going out for some dinner. Bye.
