Where did anyone suggest that?
Depends on how you read it, but while talking about the rehearsals, the article says that Don Was filled in on bass, as Darryl "had left earlier in the week", which might imply that he was there for the first part. Or might just mean he left before rehearsals even started. But I think that's where he got it.
Hardly an implication that he'd been let go. More that he had other commitments - especially as the Stones session was put together at short notice.
Some of the over-analysis and twisting of info on here is akin to reading contactmusic at times.

Ha! Thought you meant "Where did the article suggest that?" You see, I try to help, and all I cause is pain. :-(

Interesting article. It does beg the question, though - if they were playing and getting along so well, why no SNL appearance?

JJackFl, you might want to revise your subject...June 2012...not 07..I think that is causing people to not check in on this thread when really EVERYONE should.
It doesn't seem like Mick and Keith are having issues. I don't see the whole "Mick/SNL" powertrip really part of anything--if anything, I'm debunking it. It just seems to me that they have no idea how to go about performing if there is no tour to be had. They want to do some performances but it seems they're still finding their footing on how to go about it. It seems we're getting close to seeing them perform--even as soon as this year. Good to hear.

Mick obviously decided to prolong the foreplay. It's working.

If that's really the case, then he should dispense with all this "prolonging" BS and get on with it ASAP...because they ain't gettin' any younger.
Last summer I saw the Monkees - Davy, Micky and Peter's first tour in TEN years. It was an incredible 2 1/2 hour, 40-song show of hits, b-sides and deep cuts...and I'm so glad I saw them, because a mere six months later...BAM!...Davy Jones was gone, just like that. Once you start getting up there in age, things can change very quickly. All this waiting around nonsense isn't wise at all...especially if we're to believe they're getting along and their playing was "extremely tight." Time waits for no one...or, more appropriately, don't f*ck with Father Time.
By the way, say hi to stonescrow next time you look in the mirror.

Isn't this all kind of old news? Sure Rolling Stone picked up on it and I've noticed a couple of other outlets reporting the news tonight, but we have all pretty much known this for quite some time.
There is no question that the Stones will be active in the near future, but the question is in what form? The article claims that they don't want to tour, but Keith Richards seems to dispute this stating that anything is possible. Over the last several months there have been reports that the Stones were talking to promoters about a possible tour...Richards is also vague about new material. What is to become of the tracks he has laid down with Steve Jordan? It's my feeling that he is waiting to see if Mick gives the go ahead for a new studio album. If Mick says yes these songs will likely be his contributions to a new Stones project. Jagger has said he has some songs already written that are "very Stones sounding"
My gut tells me that they will be doing some highly visible, extremely expensive shows featuring all the war horses in the near future to celebrate their 50th Anniversary and some of these shows will feature Wyman and Taylor...I think these shows are likely to be recieved extremely well and the Stones will expand these shows into a McCartney like tour in 2013 where the band plays less dates that are spread out over longer periods of time or they will simply camp out in a limited number of towns and play multiple nights.
I also think we will see some new Stones music in one form or another over the next year or so as it seems Jagger and Richards have songs ready to go as I type. I wouldn't be surprised if these songs do not surface on an old fashion studio album and instead are released in a new format or are simply thrown onto another greatest hits package or an anthology project where they truly open the vaults.
Just my two cents, but I am and always have been 100% certain that as long as their health holds up the Stones will be rolling very shortly.

Everything I wanted to hear , all in one nice concise article (wrapped in the shad that is Rolling Stone) but all there.
Richards is fine, the band was tight, Taylor and Wyman are invited into the fold, Chuck and Don Was are involved as directors/players, All doors are open, touring included. Taylor has been hanging at the NY office (hell yeah!@)
Matketing in place "not many bands of this era able to put a tour on the road" I will expect to pay my fair share to participate. It's all up to Mick.
I'll bet Mick and Patrick Doyle sat down and wrote this article together. I don't doubt the questions raised on this board effected the article somewhat. Mick is perfectly poised to step in and be the hero, meet all our expectations and finally get his satisfaction.
Business as usual but......I'M IN!!! Whoo Hoo! peace

Sometimes reason knocks on my shoulder. I think this time they have waited too long. I'm not sure I want a geriatric tour in 2013.
Maybe the one off in 2012 is enough. A fitting cause to round things off before the postman comes around.

I like the idea of a one-off. Been in the back of my mind for the last year or so. Invite Wyman, Taylor, and Beck. Maybe even Clapton. Create a wave of sound that would be heard around the world!

I think we are going to get our "Happy Ending". I never had any doubts, (well, maybe a few) that they would re-surface for their 50th, provided they were all still relatively healthy. I just hope they put everything they have (all their heart and soul) into producing one last memorable album.

Doxa,
TeddyB and other people that might know have always said Keith was fine and playing well. Most of the speculation about his health and poor playing has come from this board.
It's not really a reversal of anything when the main sources never said he was unable to tour.

I think they made ??a deal - Mick performs solo on SNL with Stones songs, Richards releases his solo album at the Stones anniversary yearThis is the only logical conclusion - if he wrote songs for the Stones, why he has not yet shown them to Jagger? Ronnie(after NY/NJ rehearsals in May): “I don’t know if Mick’s heard them. I know Keith has been working on stuff with Seve Jordan".
These songs were not intended for the Stones, they are for KR's solo album. Therefore Richards is silent about Jagger on SNL
That Mick hasn´t heard any of the songsQuote
