This 'Keith being out of it' is getting really, REALLY tiresome.eye rolling smiley

Suggestion:

If you/anyone wants to criticise the Rolling Stones (any of them) perhaps it would be wise to not post/say nothing.

Have you ever met him? If so, you'd know that he's on the ball, kind, a gentleman, and merely playing to his 'image'.

Yes, he does have arthritis......but so do I and it's getting worse as I age.

Get a life..............eye rolling smiley

In 2002 this clip would've gotten comments like "A good performance, a little rough around the edges but still good!" but in 2012 it's "Keith sucks and the whole thing is crap."

I like this performance--the band still trying to "get" this song. Song only played twice. but the mix on this show is just horrid. It's really hard to listen to this show all together.

Finally a relatively POSITIVE post Thanks!! Yes, in all of their rehearsal gigs they are 'rough around the edges.....hence, the rehearsal gigs.

I love seeing them rough and making mistakes. It brings them to the human level rather than our life-long idols who we see on stage .cool smiley

This is a concert that I love, with all its ups and downs.

I particularly like Hot Stuff, great horn arrangements.

Damn. How dare they not have a song they haven't performed in 30 years tour-ready at a show which was clearly a mid-rehearsal warm up and which cost people all of $10 to witness? eye rolling smiley

Did you almost cry because Ronnie also is totally out of it or....smoking smileyI love the Stones but this is not a good performance or a good version of a song which is one of my exile favourites. And of course i love the song. I live in Amsterdam and they are singing about my second home, the smelly bordello. And on stage the band got problemssmoking smiley

Oh, PS: Gazza is absolutely right - why would any song sound perfect in rehearsals? Isn't that what rehearsals are for? And for only $10.00CAD at that!

Tremendous!

Mick and Keith with vox on the same song - this would be more than welcome to see and experience.

How cool would it be to see Mick w/backup vox on Happy. THIS is LONG overdue!

What the Stones did at Palais Royale wasn't a rehearsal. It was a show. A club show.

I've always thought this was a pretty cool show, warts and all. Keith's guitar sound has a certain bite to it on tracks like If You Can't Rock Me that he should have stuck with.

I finally declare Palais Royale once and for all a

REHEARSAL CLUB SHOW

so there's no need to argue anymore. This is my final decision, though you may appeal to the High Court if you want.

I dont get this. As long as people are paying to see a band play, the band got to deliver, no matter what. Of course it is a club show. Dont you see the audience. Semantics, semantics! If the Toronto shows (RPM, Palais Royale, Phoenix Theatre) weren't rehearsals then why on earth did the Stones go back to the Concert Hall or Greenwood School or Crescent School in order to sharpen up the sound from the small gigs? Also, the small gigs are done in order for the Stones to see how the audience reacts to various songs.

Man, some people here will argue just for arguments' sake OR to create a 'war' of sorts.

Well, that's done and dusted!smoking smiley

Okay, it is a mess alright but it is charming in its own terms. Funnily I usually find from the latter day performances the most enjoyable the ones that are not too formal or official - the rehearsals, these extra shows - where they don't have their "show box" on. and they just seem to enjoy doing it in pure musical terms - leaving the showmanship aside, being not afraid screwing up, making riskies, or whatever. Their natural musicality, charisma and charm goes through in occasions like these.

not trying to start a war, just pointing out that "rehearsals" and "shows" or "gigs" are two different things. Yes, they played songs to test them out with an audience but, technically, it's not called a rehearsal. They were in concert and performance form on stage. If you told your friends that you went to a rehearsal, they would assume you saw them actually rehearsing and talking about the songs to each other and whatnot, not playing a CONCERT.

You know, in a way I agree with you. The Stones do these "gigs" "concerts" "rehearsals" for many reasons:

- as a huge 'thank you' to Toronto

- as a huge 'thank you' to the roadies/all the people working with them in Toronto

- and as a rehearsal to see how we,the fans, and the others react to certain tunes.
