Kinda sounds like Zeppelin's "The Wanton Song," except it's not good.

No reason to post this on a Stones board. There are thousands of new songs by anyone released every day...

They did it on American Idol last night. Lot of sound and fury there...

Thanks for the link, Franz. Hadn't heard it before. Regardless of whether you like the song or not, I'm glad they're cutting new material again.

they played it on American Idol, last night. not......so......good. the vocal pattern reminds of Love In An Elevator...which is not...so...good, either and pretty much been there, done that, anyway.

He doesn't need a 'reason', he put OT on it.

Never mind Mick just impersonated Tyler on SNL. (It's not Usher's new single.)

I like the song, but I'll have to see how it grows on me.

I'm not sure, is this the new single? It sounds just mediocre. Besides it is a Get A Grip outtake

I'm a huge Aerosmith fan (especially of their '70s output but I listened to Pump recently and thought it was still awesome after all these years), and this is decent on first listen. It does have a bit of the Pump swagger but I wish they would ditch some of the glitz and sound more like in '78. I guess that's kinda like asking for Jagger to write decent lyrics or Keith to actually play his guitar on stage...

I'm also a huge Led Zep fan so the Wanton riff is indeed a little annoying because of the resemblance.

Aerosmith have certainly done worse than this. There is still hope for a real smoker a la Van Halen, who actually preceded a great comeback album with a pretty mediocre single taken from the same album.

hmmm...is this a Tyler/Perry composition or did they bring in professional songwriters as they often do?

Sounds like the wanton song mixed with horrible Just Push Play vocals.
Supposedly Jack Douglas was back producing...but it doesn't sound like it

This is too processed.

It does sound like an outtake from a precious record

Aerosmith once wished they were the Stones now the Stones can only wish they were as good as Aerosmith.

i think you said that before. "they" brought in no oe the record label did. after that the songwriters were usually friends and fellow musicians unless you think night ranger bass player jack blades and styx guitar player tommy shaw are the greatest pro writing duo ever. aerosmith actually made the career of some of those "pro songwriters"

Aerosmith hasn't been relevant since the birth of mtv.

Well, that is not exactly true at all. While I am not a fan of later day Aerosmith, their career was completely revived and they were on MTV all the time. Videos like Pink, Love is Hard on the Knees, Dude Looks Like a Lady...etc were all big MTV hits and on steady rotation and they were selling more albums at that point than any other point in their career. Which is why they got lazy. And lost their edge.

I'm a huge Aerosmith fan, but their last great album was 9 lives back in 97

Very disappointed in the new Aerosmith song. Very weak first single. Not holding out much hope for the new record.

For a comparison listen to the new Van Halen record which was a great comeback. I was hoping Aerosmith would put something out as good as that. Doesn't look like its going to happen.

yeah but the first van halen single was also crap. turned out to be the worst song on the album. also this song is for a movie so it has to have a certain appeal

Wow, looks like I'm one of the few people in the world that actually really like this song. Yeah, its no early Aerosmith, which I love, or late 80s/early 90s Aerosmith, which I also really like. But its rockin' and doesn't sound as poppy as it could. I personally think this is a great return for them.

A little messy at first listen, but it's ok.

Tyler's voice is getting really husky.

After all the sniping, I surprised that J Perry agreed to play, let alone debut, their new single on AI.
The single doesn't really sound like new material to me. Might as well have been from one of their late era albums. Don't like the way the chorus line is produced. everything about the song is run of the mill A/smith. But still - I'm glad to see a rock band release a new single. Some things should remain.

Not too fond of the song, but it was live rock and roll, blowing JLO, Rihanna, etc from the stage.

The first guitar riff does sound like Wanton Song. Then goes into a hybrid of some of their mid/late 80's work. Not bad, not great. Beats a lot of stuff out there right now.

Just some perspective:

The author of GROWING UP WITH THE BEATLES (which is a fan's tale of what it was like to be a Beatles fan in Kansas when the Beatles were still together) relates in the book his first time hearing GET BACK on the radio. (Paraphrase from memory): "I first heard GET BACK on the radio when hanging out with a friend. After listening to it, I thought it was so bad I turned to my friend and said, `If that song weren't by the Beatles, it would have never been played on the radio.' Now it's one of my favorite songs."
