I know lots of you guys are animal lovers as indeed am I.
Today I had the sad duty of putting my wonderful Greyhound Noel to sleep to stop him from suffering .
He developed a lump on his chest about 5 or 6 weeks ago and the vet thought he had knocked himself and it was some form of blood clot cyst.
However despite medication the lump grew and this morning and last night it became clear he was having difficulty settling.
We got an emergency appointment this morning where my Son Kristofer and I had the sad duty of letting him be put to sleep.
We are both devastated at loosing so quick ,he was such a big part of our lives We shall miss him dearly.
His picture has been my facebook image photo for years I shall keep it there as my tribute to a wonderful dog.

It's a horrible thing to happen. Losing a beloved pet can be like losing a relation. At least he will be out of his pain. Always remember that by meeting you in had a great life on this Earth.

I am really sorry to hear this mate, the animals who live with us are as important as the people. Dogs are amazing creatures and give 100% everyday and only ask for a limited amount back in order to survive. I can't bear the thought of losing my dog and can;t imagine how bad you must be feeling right now. We are privileged to have them in our lives even for a short period. Don't feel guilty about getting another, your dog would have wanted this.

I still think about the dog we put down 30 years ago. On the last day of her life, I sat on the couch with her in my lap, and we listened to some music together. Then, my folks said it was time to go to the vet's office. I remember that like it was yesterday.

I lost my beautiful cat last year. She used to sleep on top of me in bed for years.

That hurt so much, I know how you feel.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that
pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

Sorry to hear your sad news. I love my dog so I can imagine how you feel. Greyhounds are lovely dogs at least you gave your dog a good home.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I know someday I will not have my 2 dogs and it will be a sad day. They are so loyal and bring a great deal of joy into my life. Please accept my heartfelt thoughts and sympathies.

AH.....that's awful to hear. You have my sincere sympathy. I can't stand losing pets, it is horrible beyond words. The Rainbow Bridge poem always makes me cry yet I find it comforting. Thanks for including it here.

Very heart breaking for a pet owner - condolences to you

When our dog passed away (the one before the two that we have now) my boss at the time gave me 3 days bereavement leave. Now that's what I call a good boss, they don't make them (bosses) like that anymore (with the odd exception)

I know exactly how you feel adotulipson, we are on dogs number 4 & 5 & we now we are going to grieve when they go in their turn but we will continue to get new ones. Yes, it's the unconditional love they give you that helps keep it all together......

I also know these bad times in life. It's a real pain that takes time to calm down especially for children who are more sensitive than adults in this case.
But you only keep the good memories in mind so things are finally going right.

I was sent this when we lost two of our family pets a year ago,
Before humans die they write a last will and testament, if with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask......
To a poor and lonely stray I'd give;
-my happy home
-my bowl & cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys
-the lap which I loved so much
-the hand that stroked my fur & the sweet voice that called my name.

I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog, the place I had in my humans loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss is more than I canstand". Instead, go find an unloved dog, one who's life has held no joy or hope and give MY place to him.

This is the only thing I cagive.... The love I left behind
