Graham Parker in my opinion is one of the most underrated, singer songwriters to come out of England,in the late 70's he put out some fantastic music,l could never understand why he did not become more popular,unlike someone like Willy De Ville,that drugs probably held him back,in Graham's case,that did no seem to be the problem.Anyway he is still around,worthwhile to see him.Enjoy some of his stuff

Hellz yeah! ... always loved Graham, he actually has a new album due out in September with old backing band, The Rumour! It's the first time they will be backing Graham since the brilliant Up Escalator album (I think).

I still get his albums ... he had a great one a couple years ago, Don't Tell Columbus, the dude still writes great songs!

Love his music, has been one of my favorites for years. His early stuff got me hooked and I have been a fan ever since and as he says, the rest is history.

One of the great overlooked and underrated.. Absolutely love the first four albums ("Howling Wind", "Heat Treatment", "Stick to Me", and "Squeezing Out Sparks" ) which is his most noticed period, Saw them on them on the "Sparks" tour and they were incendiary -- Brinsley Schwarz was amazing. But I have to put in a word for his three RCA LPs in the late 80s/early 90s ("The Mona Lisa's Sister", "Human Soul", and "Struck by Lightning" ). I imagine these sold diddley, but they comprise great "adult" rock in the best sense -- hard won maturity and smarts and great tunes and performances. And still pissed off! But wizened....

Love the man and saw him plenty of times in his early days. All his first four albums are absolute classics. I think that Squeezing Out Sparks probably has the edge on the others because of the inclusion of this incredible ballad.

Graham is absoluely fabulous ! My other love, and still groovy and relevant. On his official live bootleg "Yer Cowboy Boots" from 2004 he does a nice version of "Tell Me" (and also of Jerry Garcia's "Sugaree". Check out Graham's Bootleg Box-Sets. All live recordings, throughout the years, solo, with the Rumour, with the Figgs, with Tom Freund and others.... great stuff and Big Bang For The Bucks.

That wasn't you in front of me with the huge bong was it Eddie? To tell you the truth I don't remember too much of it either. Drove down there at about 1am on my old Honda 500/4 and sat up through the night skinning up. Can't remember much of Black Slate. Eric Clapton was rubbish I recall but Dylan played one of the best sets of his life with many rare classics thrown in. Fabulous stuff.

lol...Could have been ...(in those days) ..the ole hubbly bubbly.........I was about 30 yards from the stage just left of centre......as you say Bob Dylan was amazing.......I really enjoyed Joan Armatrading too....I've got quite a good recording of Dylan....I could upload it on Hotstuff if you fancy it........

I've got the Dylan set which is not bad. Found it on the net a few years ago. The one I'm looking for is Barcelona from the 84 tour. Erik Snow has mentioned it a few times. You don't have that, do you?

No ,,the only things from '84 are the European tour rehearsals from LA - 1CD and Newcastle's St. James' Park, 5.7.'84 - 2CDs - not bad aud rec.......
..I'll ask one of my contacts next week though he may have Barcelona.....(tons more Dylan than me)......

Panama City Beach 1986 to be specific.

Saw Graham in concert with the Figgs at the Sellersville Theater, near Philly,last month. Perhaps the reason why many Stone's fans like GP is that the great Nicky Hopkins played with him for a while. An under appreciated genius.

Fan here. I haven't heard much of him recently but I have a number of older albums and always loved GP's blend of R&B, Soul & "Pub Rock"

Eggactly ... you can go on & on finding great GP tunes from any album ... he's had around 20 studio releases which is amazing. Even though Rumour years were clearly his best (which is why I am extremely excited for the new GP & Rumour album in Sept -- with Brinsley, Belmount, etc), he still has many great tunes since.

Just to back you all up. had the first 4 vinyl all fantastic. Particularly fond of the demo "Between You and Me" which they included on Howlin' Wind
