Watched IORR AGAIN & HAVE 2SAY.......THIS IS WHAT 1ST EXCITED ME...

About the Rolling Stones! And it was great to see the Foo Fighters playing this INSPIRATIONAL piece of Rock n' Roll THEATRE, although I don't think it is their(Rolling Stones) greatest song, by some measure, it does show what made them SO EXCITING, THRILLING, and in MJ's superlative performance you can see all the body and spirit of what can make the Rolling Stones music so edgy, dangerous, you can feel it in the musical structure of IORR, the lyrical boldness of storytelling & satire, the performance of the original, and the performance of MJ & Foo Fighters last Sat eve, who CAPTURE the spirit of the original, and add their own energy, athleticism, and homage.

YOU JUST WISH JAGGER WOULD BRING THE PASSION, COMMITMENT, INSPIRATION, & ARRANGEMENTS TO THE PRESENT DAY ROLLING STONES.....BECAUSE ALL THE MUSIC WAS NOT ONLY FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS, BUT THE BEAUTY OF THE MUSICIANSHIP BY ALL CONCERNED, INCL J BECK, WAS A JOY TO SEE AND HEAR.

I WOULD LOVE THE ROLLING STONES TO BRING THIS KIND OF SHOW TO A CITY NEAR US SOON, ESPECIALLY INCLUDING MJ'S CONTEMPORARY PIECE, DO A NEW PIECE AT EVERY CONCERT ON THE NEW TOUR, JAGGER CLEARLY THREW EVERYTHING AT THIS SHOW,,,,,,,AND what truly amazed me, at times, for such a rock STAR that he is, he ALMOST looked like he FORGOT himself, and JUST SUNG his own words with THOUGHT AND INTENTION!!!!

Out of curiosity, when did this board become everyone's personal blog where everyone feels like every little thought that pops into their head deserves their own individual thread instead of contributing to the one of 10 SNL threads already on the board?

Yes Justin it can be annoying but people get bored...the worst IMO would be the "Thanks for everything Rolling Stones!" type threads...ugh...gag. Like they really read this stuff.

And agreed with Koen..typing in ALL CAPS IS ANNOYING AND UNPLEASANT TO READ.

I agree with the CAPS, can see that it's annoying, I was trying to be clear about my degree of passion and excitement.

But you do sound petty, is there a published list of RULES that we Must Follow?

I was/am writing about seeing a passion that I've not seen or felt for sometime, and I thought deserved its own subject.

Well guyrachel is right though.
When Mick is this good, you really get reminded that it was never just the songs, but the way Jagger delivered the lines, wrote with an attitude.....
that was swagger that did not require 'showing the blade..'
It was as if Mick was saying, 'I'm the other Rolling Stone."

I agree , just watched on YouTube. Not a fan of the Foos but would love the Stones to pick out the bones a bit, go back to the original versions and drop some of the noise. it's only Rocknroll was the best I've ever heard. If our favorite band played like that ....... Wow! But why not?

Etiquette exists for a reason: To make public places and personal interactions (including virtual ones) more pleasant for everyone. Overuse of capitals is as rude as yelling into your cell phone on a bus or train.

Wonder why it doesn't seem possible for some people to praise Mick and not denigrate Keith at the same time? This isn't a soccer (football) match.

Couldn't Mick's assertion be more along the lines of "I AM!!!" Positively displaying his prowess, talent, and beauty, his cool and musicality as himself rather than as some reference to Keith...?

And it goes both ways.....as you countered by referencing Keith yourself.smiling smiley

hi Stu-guy2

I wasn't clear -- let me try this again.

I was not referencing Keith.

You'd said: "It was as if Mick was saying, 'I'm the other Rolling Stone'."

That is: you interpreted his attitude in this manner.

What I was meant was: Do you not see it's more probable that Mick's attitude was simply a positive assertion of his prowess, talent, and beauty, his cool and musicality --- rather than it having anything to do with Keith?

What I have been saying over and over the past year when people were bent out of shape about Keith/LIFE, why does Mick not step up and shine. The best defense is a good offense. And that is what Mick has done. He stepped up. And now people who are all defensive on Mick's behalf can relax. Mick didn't attack Keith, so no reason anyone else has to "defend" Mick. Mick's fine. Better than fine---he's doing great.

I though the foo fighters played a little too fast and a little too loud and Mick started to scream and speed up to keep up with their pace.

I thought they made the song a little too punk-ish, but I guess I am in the minorioty here, as most reports were favorable. I didn't dislike their version, but I liked RK Fire as a backup band better; it seemed like the Foo Fighters were not content to be backing Mick up and wanted to assert themselves, while arcade Fire assumed that role better.

You are correct. Can't help myself sometimes. I love both Glimmer Twins, but in light of the most recent Mick vs Keith blather....like I said, conditioned.
I've bashed Mick as much as I've bashed Keith....but it often depends on who the whipping boy is any particular thread. This thread was not one of them....so you're correct. SHould have just left my praise of Mick snark-free. (And its generally aimed at certain fans, not actually Keith himself.)
But swiss, you have to realize an underlying sentiment among some Stones fans that Mick is a pussy.....but that's another topic.
Yes, Mick kicked ass admirably,
