Not been there for the whole 50 years but 40 aint that bad.

Just waiting for the next time I'll be in the same room (or stadium) with them.

I feel like the 'Ronnie' equivalent of a fan, at only 32 years.

mere thanks are not enough. i just wish i could do something more than offer up meaningless gratitude. but, i'm poor and destitute from years of spending money on my obsession with the rolling stones.

At least your both poor and destitute. You really can't have one without the other and be taken seriously.

this post got me a little choked up.

Mick is always there to take my calls, Charlie my emails, and Keith my midnight faxes. But if I'm going drinking, it's with Ronnie.

Of course, thank you. I was with them in the beginning but strayed for many years. Re-discovered them about ten years ago. I have always been a fan and admirer of greatness. As far as rock/pop bands go they are only surpassed by the Beatles, but only slightly. And if they can somehow summon up one last tour and one last great album they will surge past the Beatles in my opinion, but only by the slimmest of margins. I will be rooting for them.

I will thank you when you release everything from 1962-1985.

All songs, everything ever recorded live or studio or solo.

good plan. all this premature thanking is just wasted motion...why do it when you'll have to go thru the whole process over again someday?

This thread got a nice start.

But after a little while a few posters started to spread some very negative vibration here.

And so they have lately won: The bad taste killed the good feelings.

As nearly allways here at IORR in the last months

So sorry.

I came late to the party, circa 1988

The first album I ever bought by the Stones was a poor 1980s cd reissue of Between The Buttons. Apart from 4 songs, I didn't know what the fuss was about - Kinks lite sprung to mind.

The next album I tracked down was a CBS, poorly remastered, cd of It's Only Rock n Roll. I still love Fingerprint File, Time Waits For No-one, If You Can't Rock Me, and Ain't too Proud to Beg. The title track also gets a good listen to from time to time.

1989 saw me buy Steel Wheels when it came out - Continental Drift still amazes me, as does Almost Hear You Sigh.

I also bought Talk Is Cheap in 1989. It remains for me one of the finest albums ever by a creative artist. It has rock, blues, ballads, soul, and even zydeco. It's a pity Keith doesn't sanction a deluxe edition of it, but I digress.

1990 - My first Stones gig at Wembley Arena; I can remember an excellent Monkey Man, 2000 Light Years From Home, and I Just Wanna Make Love To You. Ronnie getting seriously bluesy on Miss You was also a great highlight.

1993 - Bought both Wandering Spirit and Main Offender. Spirit just shades it for me, in my opinion.

The only time I ignored the Stones was when the Virgin reissues came out. The ABKCO reissues in 2002 were all purchased, ditto the Polygram reissues.

The Rock n Roll Circus was also bought: so too Ya Yas deluxe.

The same goes for Exile and Some Girls, and the Stonesarchive downloads.

I also saw the Stones in 95 on the Voodoo Lounge tour, and preferred Voodoo to Steel Wheels. It seemed more stripped down as opposed to the 80s sheen.

You mean because it's in line with saying 'Happy Birthday Jimi!' when Hendrix has been dead since 1970.
