The IORR "Thank You, The Rolling Stones, for almost 50 years of fun and entertainement" thread

It was the year 1976 when I visited The Rolling Stones my first time, in Bremen, Germany. I had seen much bands and live acts before and as a 25 year old guy I didn't want to miss The Rolling Stones after having missed The Beatles. And this tour in 1976 seemed to be The Rolling Stones last one, their "farewell-tour", I thought.

I wasn't a great fan of Mick etc. until May 1976. But I was on the way to regard them with curiosity. And then it happend: They got me by the balls. It was a fantastic act, so much power and fun, so much positiv vibrations I had never got in a concert before.

And that was really bad for my wallet. I started to buy some LP, books, videos, shirts and stickers, CDs, DVDs, boots, etc etc. I didn't miss any tour since 1976, and I had so much fun, alone and with other fans, too.

So I feel it's time to laud a big "Thank You" to "our boys",

Mick, Keef, Charlie, Ronnie, Mick T., Bill and all the other members of this greatest Rock 'N Roll Circus of the world and Brian in Rock 'N Roll Heaven:

Have fun with all the upcoming golden "50th" celebrations! smileys with beer

And please, Don't Stop!

I'm not a native english speaker and writer, so I hope to get a little help from all the other fans. Let this thread grow!

It has been a great ride, one I wish would never end. It's always fun looking forward to the next album and tour. I've been doing this basically all my life, my uncle introduced me to Rock and Roll in 1967, I was 4 years old. So when I hear about record stores closing and cds turning into mp3s it's hard to believe this culture is going to fade away, perhaps soon. Of course getting older this becomes realization, but looking back on my teen years I never would have thought there would be people that couldn't name The Beatles, let alone care less for them or The Stones for that matter. So, a big Thank You to The Rolling Stones for creating a lot of magic in my lifetime. I'm glad to be around in a great part of the worlds history. When rock inherited the world, or something close to that. A referance to The quote inside The Rock and Roll Circus DVD.smileys with beer

For me the fun started about 32 years ago, but since then only a few days have gone by that
I did not celebrate the gift.
All of us here had their moments of utter joy, brought to us by the Greatest Rock 'n Roll band
in the world. Let's focus on the fun they gave us!

I want to get lost in your rock 'n roll and drift away

when we set out on our journeys and when we return home,
we shall speak of them

thanks and praises and all kinds of blessings on that handful of skinny English cats - for good

Thank you Rolling Stones....

Anything I could write in my scarcely learnt english would be unfair becouse everything your music has contributed to my life since I was a teenager until now would need a lot of pages.

And most of it is both undertable and innefable. Ant at the same time unfathomable and superficial, like most of the things relevant in life.

I hope you get the time of say goodbye right.

I'll check this thread, started eight hours ago, from time to time. Now I see six fans who join here to say "Thank You" to The Rolling Stones. Many thanks You!

Meanwhile this thread has gone to page two because of so much and heavy interest in Micks wigs and some heavy demands, the Stones should do and release this or that ...

But I'll live in hope, still ....

Spot on Highwire, thanks for the thread. I can't begin to thank the Rolling Stones enough for all the joy, happiness, excitement and contentment they have brought to me thru the years but I can and will continue to listen to them and read about them and watch them perform as much as possible these days. Words alone seem inadequate and cannot possible due justice for the years upon years they have been a most enjoyable part of my daily life. I was so, so fortunate to have grown up with the Rolling Stones and the incredible British Invasion tidal wave that hit the U.S. with such full force and which influenced a whole new generation to sounds never heard before and which continues to this day. I liked the Beatles a lot in those days as did most youngsters at the time but when Mick, Keith and the boys hit the shoreline, it was the Rolling Stones from then on whose music was a soundtrack to not only mine, but millions of others lives as well. I do understand some of the criticism and negativity that is voiced on this board about them, both as a band and as individuals but my own experience has been that I have far too many great memories from years and years of total joy and happiness from this band to dwell too long or too hard on the negative side. Thank you Rolling Stones for being there for me all these years, it will always be much, much appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all again on tour some day.

"Get up, stand up, who's gonna pay
I wanna talk to the boss right away
Get up, stand up, outta my way
I wanna talk to the man right away

We walk the highwire
Putting the world out on a deadline
And hoping they don't catch the shellfire
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

We walk the highwire
Putting the world out on a deadline
Catching the bite on primetime
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

Get up! Stand up!
Dealer! Stealer!
Hey!"

Thank you.
Thank you, kindly.

Another question might be: Why are you grandstanding like this?

Every thread people contribute to, every minute spent in discussion here, every photo lovingly posted.....every one of these actions is a thank you.

After the last tunes of Street Fighting Man on my very first concert of the Rolling Stones 1976 I decided that my hometown village was to small and ran away from home. Thanks for changing my future in all respects guided me around the world and brought me back, but to Switzerland where flocked out with my wife to see a lot of Rolling Stones concerts after 1990.
What ever will be the future, it's today where we live, but don't forget those rolling memories.

Thank you The Rolling Stones. My friend turned me onto them in 1971 when I was in Grade 8.

My computer now has a "Rolling Stones richness" and it's quite fantastic. In earlier days I stared at the back of the GYYYO album for hours while listening to it. Gimme Shelter spawned thousands of garage rock bands. Thank you for the moral messages and the heartfelt emotion in your music. Thank you for the swing!

Thank you for all of the concerts I saw: 1975, 1978. 1981, 1989, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2006.

Thank you for She's a Rainbow! Sheer joy!!!

Nimrod, if you really are Mick, look at the joy in this clip:

Thank you so much for that song, I am flushed. Those few short months in 1966-67 must have been a trip!

Thanks for the comment. I am not around enough to know all the users. You never know though if Mick lurks or even has a user name!

There were three instances in my life when I was just one degree of separation away from Mick. Three "almost-brushes with fame!" lol

I agree, I've been a collector of Rolling Stones memorabilia since 1970 so have much space filled with paper cuttings and mags from 1960's in my possession, not ot mention vinyl boots , cd's and video. To the Band - Thanks for the journey, the stones catalogue of music places me in various times of my life like no other band ever has. Thanks for the ride, hope to catch you all live, one last time .... Happy to be here with you all too.

After seven days with much OT- R.I.P.-posts, continuing heavy Stones bashing and some enthusiastic soccer posts (the englisch team will be disturbed by churchbell ringing every hour and all night long in the neighbourhood of their hotel ... grinning smiley ), here it comes:

Another chance to continue saying "Thank You" to The Rolling Stones.

Feel free!
