Woodie claims Stones will record & tour - Wyman (and maybe Taylor) to rejoin
Posted by: Turd On The Run ()
Date: May 20, 2012 21:46

An old friend of mine -- a big Poobah in the music industry -- just called me after seeing Jagger on SNL and told me he was at the Hall Of Fame induction for the Faces last month. He sent me a picture of himself with Woody, Mac, and Kenny Jones...and then told me that during this event Woody dropped a few bits of information on him:

1. the Stones would record again -- that will happen
2. Wyman is rejoining
3. they are trying to get Taylor in playing form
4. they will tour again -- the concept will be to take up residency in a city...quoting him (my friend) "like play 10 times within one month in New York city - and then go to another city - better on band - they 'aint young - and apparently this is the last tour...the last...can't wait to see ticket prices...".

Please...Don't Shoot The Messenger...perhaps it is simply wishful thinking on Woody's part...I just thought this information might be encouraging for some of us...as it will obviously will be food for derision for others...I only repeat what I was just told...hope is the last thing to die...

Is that the same Ronnie Wood who earlier this year had to apologize for wrong studio reports...?

Wait a minute, it's Taylor who is not in playing form? What about that other guitarist, you know the one who's "happy to be here, happy to be anywhere"? I think that's the one that may not be in playing form. Taylor looked ok to me. Not what he was in 1972, but which of them are?

Thanks for posting this, though anything Wood says has to be given the appropriate level of consideration given his track record.

One wonders if the purpose of bringing Taylor back is simply to cover for Keith.

Hey, sure enough these topics about the immediate future of the band are controversial, but I would love another album of new songs and/or finished demos from the post-reunification period.
I don't even mind if it's with or without the ex-members Wyman and Taylor. I wouldn't even mind if there were no tour. Just the album would be nice. But please, no Greatest Hits compilation. There are already so many of them.

Do you ever wonder if Mick is dangling the tour that will never happen as an imaginary carrot as some kind of revenge against keith - just to f**k with him?

I had a friend in college who found out his girlfriend was cheating on him and hatched an elaborate revenge plot in which he told her he was taking her on a trip to Europe, which she always dreamed of & talked about. Had her pack, got her excited over a period of weeks and weeks, let her spend money in anticipation, had her take a cab to the freaking airport, and, of course, there was no trip. Left her standing there like an idiot.

Somehow, I don't recall ever hearing this phrase, though it sounds like a truism:

hope is the last thing to die...

Really chilled my bones.

It seems a very odd comment for Wood to make given he has played publicly with Taylor (and Wyman) far more recently than with Keith. I'm afraid I don't buy it.

Having read Ronnie's book and of course everything he's said since the book came out being so... worthless, I'm going to drive between the ditches with this one and go back to figuring that there isn't anything like this in the works.

Seeing that Ronnie is so believable.

Of course the reason to not believe anything will happen is because of Keith. How old is Wyman? 75? Charlie is 70 and the other three are in their 60s. One has had a very rough life, through choice, of course.

YES!

He could never cover for Keith, but he might very well bring in another dimension that would make us miss Keith a little less.

Well, he did say they needed to relearn the old ones.

Maybe they worked really hard.

Well I would guess Ron would do the Keith covering...it would probably look stupid to have 4 guitarists up there at the same time (Blondie) and 5 if Jagger slapped one on for the Some Girls songs. eye popping smiley

Lady Jane...he might have meant physically in "playing form"...I don't know, I was not there and I merely quote my friend's recounting of this conversation. After seeing Taylor on Jimmy Fallon I can understand this comment...though Taylor's playing was OK (I actually thought he sounded a bit tentative and lacking a lot of the power and easy fluidity he used to regularly display), I found his physical condition to be poor...he looked dog-tired, a bit disoriented and very fat. He doesn't have to revert to his rail-thin 70's form...nor try to look like Woody's cadaverous form...but the condition he was in on the Jimmy Fallon show did not seem to be in any way, shape or form (pun intended) "touring-shape"...

Ahhh. So he'd be better off with the Beach Boys than the Rolling Stones.

That makes sense.

My two cents are: Ronnie stating is going to happen is a lot better than him stating its NOT going to happen.

I predict what Turd's freind said will come true!

don't give me that ole one two, one two three four

Maybe we could have a sticky thread where all the Ron Wood pronouncements about the Rolling Stones' future go, and we could track each of them for accuracy.
