I haven't heard about her since...yesterday.

Did Mick NAIL Kristen Wig?

She is brilliant. And beautiful in a smart way. Every 6 or 7 years people complain that SNL has gone to pot -- she is as talented as anyone who has been on the show. And the show is doing just fine -- last night's episode with (a wonderful) Mick Jagger will tell you that..

That was a very touching goodbye last night.

Yeah, she really is up there with the all-time best players on SNL, incredibly talented.

she is probably one of the best recent cast members and it seems to me now that 3 cast members are keeping the show together and thats bill hader, andy samberg and jason sudeikis

Yup. As much as Wiig has annoyed me in the last three years (I just thought she got too stale and everything she did was always the same kind of shtick) its hard to deny how talented she was on that show. She was one of their biggest assets since Will Ferrell in terms of multitalented abilities. I agree that after her, the other 3 are the ones holding the show together (alittle less so with Samberg). Overall, I'm most surprised at how many AREN'T leaving yet. Nearly everyone has been there for 7-10 years and I'm sure it makes them think when Kristen Wiig is finally big enough to leave the show.

Leaving the show is a gamble -- for every Belushi and Ackroyd or Eddie Murphy there's a Charles Rocket or the "Why me Mango?" guy looking lost at the end of last night's show. I loved that the great Phil Hartman stayed with the show as long as he did -- he was good on "News Radio" but his forte was sketch/improv, which is the background for most cast members. Kristin Wiig is amazing in the sketch format -- I hope it translates to a big film or TV career but they are different animals.

And the Portlandia guy is good too, as well as the "What's Up with that?" guy. Sorry -- not up to speed!.

People that say that SNL isn't funny anymore don't watch it. people long for the not ready for prime time players. Did you ever watch the original skits. Pretty lame and terrible. Kristin Wig has more talent and is funnier than than Gilda radner Lorraine newman and Jane Curtian combined.

Yesterday's episode was no different than the countless ones I've seen from this season or last season or two seasons ago. The show has always been funny...only people who are holding on to the old cast dismiss the show. I've been a fan for as long as I was able to watch...back from the Will Ferrel days all the way to now. Mick was a welcome addition to the proceedings but in no way did he make the show better. People make it seem like "the glory days" were so much better but then you watch a clip from the 70's with Belushi or Akroyd and you see just how equally obscure and weird the skits were then. No different now. Some skits work...some don't.

Kristen Wiig is great at voices and physical comedy and she also manages to find something very real--and even tragic--at the core of her characters where they resemble people we all know from real life.

I will miss her because I think she really carried the show during her run. I've been watching SNL off and on since the first episode (with Billy Preston as musical guest, right off the TOTA '75! ) and I think she is possibly the funniest cast member ever, which is saying something because there have been quite a few greats over the years.

The farewell to her last night was a great, great moment. Very moving.

He's great on SNL...but his other show Portlandia is so good it's unbelievable!

Totally disagree. The show has gone steadily downhill over the years. Even with Mick in the show I only thought one or two skits were funny last night. Some of the skits are so silly a third grader can write them.

"There's a guy in my block, he lives for rock he plays records day and night. And when he feels down, he puts some
rock 'n' roll on and it makes him feel alright. And when he feels the world is closing in he turns his stereo way up high.
He just spends his life, living in a rock 'n' roll fantasy."

My favorite era used to be the late-80's and early 90's. There is some really great stuff from back then, but recently I re-visited that era on Netflix and a lot of the skits don't hold up. After last night I want to start watching SNL again. There were some funny things. Like, I thought "Stephan" on weekend update was hilarious. And the Californians was as funny as any spoof the show has ever done.

Agreed! To me the best are Bill Hader and Fred Armisten. Insanely funny both of them. And Portlandia is amazing.

I did like when Darryl Hammond came back for a while.
HIs politician and Trump impressions added a lot. He wrote
a lot of those too, I gather from his book.

IMHO, she was the second most talented person on the staff (this past season), but some of her characters were really obnoxious.
