Oh dear, this forum is a crash course in American popular culture - now I've had to go and find out whether Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is real or if superrevvy invented him.

You should be thankful! You're getting some real 1990s culture there!

Quit bashing Foo Fighters!

- er - how exactly do either of the quoted posts bash the Foo Fighters?

I think it was just a lame attempt at humor.

Bill does not like to fly, but he did fly to the States recently to do some boogie woogie shows. I think he will manage to fly into NY and LA and to do a dozen or so shows at Staples and MSG. And Ronnie is of course keeping his calendar open for the rehearsals.

'Recently' ?

August 2001 is 'recent' ?

On medication are you??
The Stones dont owe us anything!! They wont miss you, if you dont go.
Would be great if they would give some concerts. There wont be any new album, thats okay.
Just if they keep the vaults open, that would be nice.

It won't happen but I hope Ronnie leaves his gig in France to the comfort of idling jet at the Nice airport and takes off for NY. Maybe he can land in Conneticut and pick up Keith.

By the way, where the hell are Charlie and Mick T?

maybe bill can take a boat to the states and then take a train to the gigs

How about Bernard Fowler? Is he also keeping October / November free?

If so, it's either for a Stones project or Ronnie and Bernard could write and record another Ronnie solo album. Both would be very nice.

According to this article, it's Jagger that said it.

Mick Jagger hinted differently this week, telling The Sun:

"It looks like we are going to be doing more stuff. I am keeping October/November free, that’s what I've been told. I'm just awaiting more information."

Mick wouldn't be told to keep October/November free. He'd be the one telling others to.

Doesn't matter who said what to whom and who reported it. The bottom line is the Stones are masters at running mis-direction plays. The end result is all that matters. Either it happens or it doesn't. The exact time isn't significant, however, the 50th anniversary year begins on July 12, 2012 and runs through July 11, 2013. If something doesn't happen within that time frame then it is most likely finally (once and for all) over for the Rolling Stones. At least as a touring band.

Well, for one, they're not a touring band anymore and haven't been since August of 2007. And that site has misquoted Mick since he didn't say it to begin with.

Ronnie Wood's Rolling Stone News, Talks Mick, 'SNL'

Exclusive: I had the great pleasure of running into rock legend Ronnie Wood today at La Colombe D’or restaurant in St. Paul de Vence, France. H was there with his manager and two young friends, and never looked better. The former Faces star turned Rolling Stones mainstay and I talked about Mick Jagger’s appearance tonight on “Saturday Night Live” as host.

Will Keith make a surprise appearance, I asked?

Said Ronnie: “Only if it’s in Connecticut.”

What about Keith writing demos and new songs for the Stones and a possible new album?
Ronnie: “I don’t know if Mick’s heard them. I know Keith has been working on stuff with Seve Jordan.”

And a 50th anniversary tour? Ronnie was a little cagey, and his manager–a sweet lady–did’t want him to say too much. “There’s a lot of talk,” Wood said. Ronnie also told me he had a great time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of the Faces/Small Faces. “I got to play a great number with Slash,” he said. Slash was inducted along with all of Guns n Roses except for Axl Rose, who declined the invitation.

For the record: Ronnie signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who asked in the dining room of this incredibly famous, beautiful Provence restaurant. A real gent as they say.

Thanks for posting this. I don't have any other comments. Always like Ronnie so I'm glad he is keeping busy and look forward to show at the Apollo in NYC with Mick Taylor soon.

I get the sense now these guys are aging artists just tinkering with music and their creative minds. What else is Keith gonna say.

Woody has surely been reasonably busy since the last Stones happening. Faces Reunion, solo record, radio show, solo shows etc. There's more to beeing an artist than just shows and what we actually see, you know....

Most of us would love a last tour and are crossing our fingers for that.
But to me it seems that touring at the end of the year is out of question. In that case they have to start rehearsing this summer which doesn't seem to be possible.
Can we possibly, possibly hope for rehearseals in October/November? If theese work out well, can we hope for some gigs 2013?
But do they even dare to start selling tickets before rehearsals?

Yep, that appears obvious from the "thank you" video they posted on Facebook today. They appear in front of Charlie's drums with song titles written on the surrounding plexiglass. Something's happening....
