Ronald Wood's utterances in the past have been completely unreliable. Yet his statement that they have nothing new convinces one poster that Mick and Keith have already started to record a new album. Incredible.

Obviously my sense of sarcasm didn't come through my post. For that I humbly apologize.

My apologies, Treacle. Your sarcasm was so understated it got right by me. Plus with all the unlikely scenarios being dreamed up by some folks here, it's hard to know what's serious and what's not.

Yes, the inflection was subtle...I was endeavouring to spotlight the seemingly low ranking that Ronnie still seems to hold after all these years in stonesland.

Apology unnecessary but thanks!

OK, so a friend of mine knows somebody who supposedly knows Ronnie and the SNL thing is supposedly going to be a Stones appearance after all, yada yada. While my friend was with the fellow today (wed), the fellow tweeted Ronnie to the effect of, "So, are the Stones going to announce a tour this Saturday night or not?" Ronnie's cryptic reply was, "Ha ha."

And so yet another twist to the ongoing will they or won't they play SNL saga...any Bill Wyman on cruise ship sightings yet?

Bill does not like to fly, but he did fly to the States recently to do some boogie woogie shows. I think he will manage to fly into NY and LA and to do a dozen or so shows at Staples and MSG. And Ronnie is of course keeping his calendar open for the rehearsals.

He did? Where the hell did he appear? I never heard a word of this. How the hell could Bill friggin' Wyman appear on a U.S. stage and no one reported it on this blog? I find this either a) highly suspect or b) highly surprising.

Key quoted phrase here is the "I've been told...". You don't box a working musician like Ronnie in for 2 whole months unless you have something lucrative to offer him in return. This is news at about the rate and level we expected it, no more no less.

In the meantime, have you'all heard that new Bonnie Raitt record? It is very very good! Newsworthy good. Bonnie's back with new songs for us TODAY. I highly recommend the whole new record called Slipstream. peace

just because its the bands 50th anniversary it dosent mean they lasted 50 years.

i think most would see their functioning years as starting in 1962 with the first gig and finishing in 2011 with the recording of the extended version of some girls.

so about 48 and a half years is the period they lasted.

i think the stones are probably finished.

Bill in a recent interview ;

When will we see The Rhythm Kings tour America again?
BW: They always ask me if I’m coming over there again. But as I gave up flying in 1990, once you build a bridge or tunnel, I’m over there (laughs).

Well, wasn't Ronnie just recently scolded for leaking information? Either he has a very short attention span or he has been given authorization by someone. Wonder whom that someone could be? Let me guess! I say look out for a mis-direction play! Mick Jagger would have made one hell of an NFL offensive coordinator!smoking smiley

I have a feeling that Wood's comment was taken out of context by a reporter who isn't fully aware of the Stones situation.

Wood's quote of "it looks like we are going to be doing more stuff" could be interpreted as saying we are going into the studio while his line about "we're familiarising ourselves with our back catalogue and have only scratched the surface" could be a reference to the recent jams sessions that reportedly have taken place in NYC...The line about "new ones are you joking" again could indicate that they are just getting their feet wet with some old classics, but will hit the studio in the fall.

I don't necessarily agree that you can assume that he meant that the Stones will be hitting the road in Sept/Oct...If they are hitting the road in the fall we will know very shortly as venues have to be booked months in advance and there is no way that wouldn't leak.

The fact that Wood said "we are going to be doing more stuff" is clearly good news for Stones fans, but it is nothing but pure speculation as to exactly what he means.

So which will happen first - the Stones announce a so called tour or the New Orleans Saints sign Drew Brees?

Technically...'will they' can be answered yes or no without saying both. 'Won't they' can be answered 'yes' to confirm they won't and 'no' to confirm they will and...without having to say both.

So 'will they' suffices. There's no need to imply twice.

Do you give grammatical advice to acquaintances face-to-face or just to strangers on message boards? The first couple of times I thought it was a bit weird, but it did catch my attention enough to remember your name. Do you want to be that guy? Isn't there enough weirdness around here already?
