I was driving to work at 6:30 am today and popped a boot of this show on. I had seen the Stones in Buffalo a couple of days before this Detroit show, in Rich (now Ralph Wilson) Stadium. It was a great show, but a sloppy performance with crappy sound....still fun and wild, but very different than what they did a couple of days later in Detroit. From Jagger's opening announcement 'And now from England, the Rolling @#$%& Stones!' thru the end they play with a tightness and toughness that is just stunning.
They take songs like Miss You and Shattered, that seem to break down into messes live, and keep them taut. They are a band on top of their game at that moment, and it's great to hear and imagine being there, in a small, sweaty, loud venue, with Keith really PLAYING riffs, Ronnie hitting every lead, Mike on fire, and Stu and Mac providing great support from the keys. Wyman is a rock holding it all together.
I sincerely hope this becomes the next in the 'bootleg series'. Though my boot (which I downloaded thanks to the generosity of posters on this site) sounds great I would buy the official release, too.
