Foo Fighters are a pop band?!? are you kidding me?!? Why are there so many misinformed people on this message board? I suggest you watch them in action, especially the drummer Taylor Hawkins. He is one of the best around. He is HEAVY. A monster. Watch them and then come back and tell me that it's pop.Quote

Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire. Neither are R & R bands. Pop bands at best.
I've seen them in concert...they are so boring. Radiohead opened for and completely eviscerated them.

The Foos rock... but it mean nothing here...
The Stones are playing SNL, not the Foo Fighters.

..if true poor choice and timing....I would respect Superheavy backing Mick...but this is contrived.
Not every rock band is supposed to have roll or swing...Quote

Too bad they have no roll...

Besides all of us here...would anyone else really blink when they watch Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters and whomever else back Mick up tomorrow? No one outside this board really knows/cares that all the Stones are in NYC or that Mick Taylor is also in town. So it's a huge loss for us, sure...but to everyone else, no doubt they'll think this is an epic pairing.

True, which is why mere rock is boring.

Why do SNL?

jesus christ, can you guys not think outside the box? so it's not The Stones. Mick with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters might be pretty awesome. In fact, I bet it will be. Because I'm not looking at the performance angrily! Give it a chance before you crap all over it! Are you not fans of Mick Jagger? If he's not playing with The Stones would you rather he retire and not make new music?
, and they are saying that Foo Fighters have a different gig on the 19th. Hmmmm....Quote
Justin
Well according to their official site, they're playing in Asbury Park, New Jersey...which is just 90 minutes away from New York. So maybe just 30 minutes if they took a private jet. No reason to not assume they'd do both SNL and the gig in Jersey.

It's an all day festival so it could easily end by 10:00, or the Foo's may decide to go on next to last even though they are headlining.
Anyway, instead of taking your anger out on the Foo's or Arcade Fire (not you Justin), you should be blasting Mick, after all it was Mick's choice! Even if he picked Radiohead or Coldplay, which by far are the 2 worst bands on this planet, it's still Mick's choice.

I can't imagine lorne michaels would approve of a band rushing to get to the studio on time for a live broadcast, but what do I know?

I gained a lot of respect for the Foo Fighters when they opened for the Police a couple years back. They were great ...

The Foo Fighters wouldn't know rock and roll if it jumped up and sucked their dicks. Can't do with them...all mouth and no real action. Grohl has been eating out too long on Curbain's dinner ticket. Max - I love your optimism and hope oyu are right about the Stones turning up, I'm not as convinced.

FooFighters did a good job with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on Wembley 2008.

How can anyone really believe in a smokescreen? The stones are not that big anymore.
