I don't know anyone who thinks Arcade Fire is trendy or lacking in soul. It's OK if you're ignorant concerning popular, current, bands, but it's best to not try and seem like an authority on them in that case.
Seriously, Arcade Fire....trendy and soul free? That's an incredibly misinformed statement.

jesus christ, can you guys not think outside the box? so it's not The Stones. Mick with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters might be pretty awesome. In fact, I bet it will be. Because I'm not looking at the performance angrily! Give it a chance before you crap all over it! Are you not fans of Mick Jagger? If he's not playing with The Stones would you rather he retire and not make new music?
I agree, I was thinking the same thing. This could be pretty cool! I was never expecting The Stones. And at these guys are rockers and some interesting eclectic approach might be refreshing. Better than him playing with Pooperheave. That would have been a tragedy. This could be cool!

I am still of the opinion that whatever 'sessions' happened in London and NY, it was informal and without any real purpose. And I still think that Jagger told the rest he would not tour with the Stones in 2012, or that Richards told them he is in no shape to play a gig, let alone tour.

Just think of how all the millions of Arcade Fire & Foo Fighters fans are going to feel if they don't play.

You do all realise that all this tension building up is 100 times worse for us in the Uk - at least you will all get to watch it live, we'll be sat here waiting for snippets of information from you guys...who of course won't be anywhere a computer. So we won't get any news until after the show!!!!
NICE!!! Me likes it.... A LOT!!!!Quote

or the basis of a skit arc that night where mick is looking for the perfect band to back him up. the foos are too hard, so then he tries arcade but they're a bit too soft and then the third band, which turns out just right would be ...
Ladies & Gentleman, would you welcome please, the Greatest Rock N Roll band in the World...The Rolling Stones.

Can someone tell me 2 or 3 arcade fire songs I should listen to? Are they a good band?
I remember Mick commenting that the new Wembley would be done in time for the Arctic Monkeys 50th anniversary tour.

How can anyone really believe in a smokescreen? The stones are not that big anymore.
Foo Fighters are a pop band?!? are you kidding me?!? Why are there so many misinformed people on this message board? I suggest you watch them in action, especially the drummer Taylor Hawkins. He is one of the best around. He is HEAVY. A monster. Watch them and then come back and tell me that it's pop.Quote

Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire. Neither are R & R bands. Pop bands at best.
