Pretty much the same 5 songs he's been doing for years.Quote

If that report is true,
that doesn't sound too promising...
He needs to be in better shape to play 2-3 hour shows.
5 songs? Really?

Wow...how much were tickets for that show.
very dissapointing that he only played 5 songs ...if that is true.
It's not like they did not have a sound check (see video) or it was a last
minute gig...
All I can say from here in Florida is that is I am guessing the prices were pretty steep (based on my Charlie Watts tix) and that intimate venue or not...5 songs is way to short.
That and I hope it wasn't health related reasons.

I think it is important to note that the Iridium is probably not making its owners a lot of money as a music venue. Tickets are dirt cheap, and it only fits a couple hundred people. Even with the 2 drink minimum, that is not going to cover times square rent in 2012. Far more money is made by using it as carryover space for Ellen's Stardust Diner, which is a tourist trap that serves 25 dollar BLTs and provides you with singing waitresses - the two are connected and run by the same people. The Iridium, as a performance venue, is more of a preservation hall, where artists that are culturely important, yet not in the mainstream of popular music can show their talents.

He ... turned down a bunch of people who were looking for autographs in quite an obnoxious manner

He played for a good 1h30 during Thursday's second set. He looked exhausted at the end (and turned down a bunch of people who were looking for autographs in quite an obnoxious manner) so I don't see him carrying a 2h30 show for weeks. At least not now.

I don't see the Stones doing more than a 90 minutes set, tops.

Me neither, and if they will tour it will be a luxury tour, without any hardships at all. All very smooth and comfortable. It would be a treat for Taylor, almost a health cure.

If MT plays with the Stones next year, I would see him coming on as a guest for a portion of the show, rather than playing for entire show (although it would be magic if everyone was cool with him playing for a full show).
Great point/concept FT.... and "a portion of the show" is all that it would take to attract MT fans... I bet everyone would be very happy to have him on 5-6 MT songs.. and it would sell a lot of tickets
