He played 5 songs for a total of one hour, 8:25-9:25.

Setlist

Secret Affair
Twisted Sister
Losing My Faith
Fed Up with the Blues
Can't You Hear Me Knockin'

He played very well. I have seen him 6 or 7 times and he was very energetic. He wasn't too happy with the sound though, he got fed up, then took his index finger and went across his throat to cut the show. That was it, he said thank you. One hour in total. I thought he would play at least another 20-30 minutes.

He can still play

If that report is true,
that doesn't sound too promising...

He needs to be in better shape to play 2-3 hour shows.
5 songs? Really?

hopefully just due to the bad sound...you really need to play at least 90 min these days as a headliner. 60min would have been appropriate in 1973.....

Pretty much the same 5 songs he's been doing for years.

Unfortunately in these type of venues the shows are an hour. Which
Is why they have two shows. You go because it's an intimate place to
See an artist .

Wow...how much were tickets for that show.

very dissapointing that he only played 5 songs ...if that is true.

It's not like they did not have a sound check (see video) or it was a last
minute gig...

All I can say from here in Florida is that is I am guessing the prices were pretty steep (based on my Charlie Watts tix) and that intimate venue or not...5 songs is way to short.

That and I hope it wasn't health related reasons.

Tickets are $55. CYHMK was an extended jam. It is typical for Iridium sets to be short. They fit 2 sets in one 4 hour period. MT played 3 shows yesterday, if you count Jimmy Fallon.

You Got to Move and No Expectations were reported as played at the second show.

The report is true. I was there and he was clearly unhappy with the sound, so he ended it after an hour. I think he would have played longer if there were no problems. I have never seen him end a show like last night. He was right about the sound though, you could clearly hear the speaker or amp crackling.

He played five songs, that's all.
I really felt he was in a good mood yesterday until the last 15 minutes of the first show.
He can still play very well, I'm not saying 1972, but you can still see and feel that he's got something left in the tank.

Just glad I got to see him last night and heading back Monday.

I think it is important to note that the Iridium is probably not making its owners a lot of money as a music venue. Tickets are dirt cheap, and it only fits a couple hundred people. Even with the 2 drink minimum, that is not going to cover times square rent in 2012. Far more money is made by using it as carryover space for Ellen's Stardust Diner, which is a tourist trap that serves 25 dollar BLTs and provides you with singing waitresses - the two are connected and run by the same people. The Iridium, as a performance venue, is more of a preservation hall, where artists that are culturely important, yet not in the mainstream of popular music can show their talents.

That puts this thread into context perfectly. Thank you for that!

Im at Thursday's second show and MT is killing it! He's doing a fantastic version of You Shook Me. I'll write a review later tonight but man, he's good tonight after a slow start!

I was referring to the concerts that will surely be at least 2 1/2 hours long, in front of potentially millions of screaming fans in the seemingly near future!cool smileywinking smiley

He played for a good 1h30 during Thursday's second set. He looked exhausted at the end (and turned down a bunch of people who were looking for autographs in quite an obnoxious manner) so I don't see him carrying a 2h30 show for weeks. At least not now.

Finally shy and too kind Mick has become assertive. That's a good thing regarding possible cooperation with the Stones.

I don't see the Stones doing more than a 90 minutes set, tops.

Me neither, and if they will tour it will be a luxury tour, without any hardships at all. All very smooth and comfortable. It would be a treat for Taylor, almost a health cure.

I don't think Taylor's health is inferior to certain others in the band either...

Thank you for the review and for the Bobby Keys quote on the other thread.

I wonder if they are allowing people to openly record (video of) these MT shows?

If MT plays with the Stones next year, I would see him coming on as a guest for a portion of the show, rather than playing for entire show (although it would be magic if everyone was cool with him playing for a full show).

thumbs upGreat point/concept FT.... and "a portion of the show" is all that it would take to attract MT fans... I bet everyone would be very happy to have him on 5-6 MT songs.. and it would sell a lot of tickets
