Yeah, I just wish he'd come back. Darryl Jones did more to destroy this band than anything the rest of them ever did.
I´m glad for you. Will Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie join him? Did he invite them at least? SNL? That would be an original surprise, not Bill Wyman joining a Stones concert, but the rest of the band showing up at a rhythm kings' freaking gig!
Brue, I know, Darryl is a “virtuoso”, I respect him and even like him in some songs, but he leaves us a little “cold” in the end.

Only pretty good? The best bass player in pop/rock history, notwithstanding his apparently disconcerting technique? His lines are short and tight, and yet melodic and well articulated. His playing never bores me, while I can´t say the same for most of the bands I hear on the radio: frequently the bass is inconsistent, a sort of undistinguished “bottom” sound..
The score of the girls he nailed maybe is pretty good, his bass playing is (or was) pure excellence.
Brue, I know that “pretty good” was euphemistical and means “great”, but I heard some of his 1981/1982 live stuff recently and I felt like praising him in all his glory..

Darryl, is an excellent bass player...just the wrong kind of bass player for the stones. The Stones is Watts and Wyman, they developed an understanding over many years and they were as tight as an elephants condom on his wedding night.

Daryll Jones did not destroy this band. How ridiculous. He just took a gig that was offered when Bill decided to retire. He's had a couple highlights, Love Is Strong, You Got Me Rockin', but for all his technique, he doesn't have the feel that Bill had. You can't fake feel, and obviously it ain't that easy to find. Technique is something that can be taught.

Darryl could turn it all around on this board if, just once, during 19th Nervous Breakdown, he did that extending decending bass motif that comes in at the end of the track.
