the greatest mashups will share four qualities

1) you know both/all songs so well they are part of your genetic code

2) both/all artists are biggies

3) both vocals and instrumentals are mashed up, not just one artist's
vocals over another's instrumentals

and of course 4) it has to be extremely well done. making a great mashup can
these days be your ticket into the world of music production/engineering

this stones/temptations one always shows up on the list of the greatest ever...

While I think that several of theses mashups are quite clever,
I also think they're more of a novelty, and more often than
not are sacrilegious in their desecration of a classic tune.

With that said, some of them are fun to listen to on the rare occasion.

Here's an example that ruins my favorite Doors song, but there's no denying that it is a clever mix.
(Hopefully I can erase it from memory though).

If you can find Cracked Pepper, download it. It's awesome!

WOW! Normally I tire of Mash-ups by the second verse but this one is f**king brilliant.

I'll add this to the mix, but that Rolling Confusion is something.

There are some clips of the sync on YouTube. Pretty wild.

Also, Rush's 2112 with the Gene Wilder "Willie Wonka" movie.

Since All Summer Long has already pinched half of Sweet Home Alabama, I'd love to hear somebody cut out the middleman and do a SHA / Werewolves mashup, but until then, this will have to do.

Beatles/Monkees "Paperback Writer"/"I'm a Believer"

Re: OT: Mash-up thread

Paperback believer is good, but I'd have loved to hear the "the I saw her face" chorus of I'm a Believer come crashing in after the repeated "paperback writer's" at 0:47 or 1:10 ...
