Gee thanks Max. I do admire your faith that our boys will play. But sadly. It will cost you.Quote

Done deal.
No games, no tricks, no Wyman/Taylor wasnt there business...
The Stones playing being basically defined as Charlie, Ronnie, Kieth, and Mick on stage playing a song at SNL for this show.
Its a bet
Better clarify about a hypothetical pre-taped "Digital Shorts" scenario. It may already be filmed.
Edit: re-reading your post, it looks like the implication is LIVE ON STAGE, no tape delay, etc.
I have never seen a music guest on tape on SNL... would'nt it kind of ruin the whole LIVE aspect?
btw- I think everyone here should applaud SCL for sacrifcing his hard earned money... that he is willing to pay $500.00 for the Stones to play that show for us... that is pretty fkg admirable...

Does anybody on this board know what is going to happen ?
YES, I do. The Stones will play SNL on the 19th. period.
OK Max, then I will take your word for it.
But I really want to place a bet on this.
If they do play, I will have a few beers on you.
If they don't play, I will have a few beers on you.
OK ?

The Stones are done, they were off the road during 5 years and back in 2006-2007 they were VERY BAD, it would be a disaster now. The rehearsals from last week were for the documentary, a couple of warhorses for the camera.
It's very clear that Mick didn't want to carry the whole circus again, he's a semi retired musician now.
The best we can get is a couple of big shows next year, a 15-song warhorse setlist and then goodbye.

One moment, georgelicks...there were some very sub-par shows in the 2006-07 tour, but there were some amazing ones as well. I saw several terrible (for the Stones) shows (mostly in Germany) and some great shows (in the USA) and an incandescent show in Budapest, Hungary where the Stones basically reduced a stadium with over 90,000 people to rubble...so please hold off on the tired dogma that the Stones were VERY BAD in 2006-07...very uneven, yes...I'll give you that...and no more.
P.S. I love Max's Kansas City's enthusiasm and positivity...your words to God's (Satan's?) ear!!!

Right on Brother... right back at ya
ya know I have come think I must just be a lucky mofo, or maybe the Stones just play great shows when they come around these parts, or know i will be there... but... quite honestly all the shows I saw onBB were pretty good... and the reviews which were written after the shows said they were pretty good... and the people Iwas with said they were pretty good.... so.... I guess it is possible that in some far away land they played some crappy shows.... but the 5 shows I saw ( Boston, Omaha, Little Rock, Toronto, Wichita) were all pretty good. Iam some what mystified at people who say they hated the show they saw. I will add that I usually make sure to sit pretty close, so maybe that helped... but I always sit close.... dont care if it is 2000, 100,000 SIT CLOSE is the rule.

They want us to be speculating and honestly I'm cool with that. The problem for me is how offensive it would be to NOT have the Stones appear with Jagger. They are about to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band, and yet Jagger would consider going on SNL with a DIFFERENT band..?? Makes ZERO sense to me unless the Stones are dead as a band.
Seriously what band in the world could get away with things like this? No tour for 6 years and no 'new album', yet they will celebrate '50 years as a band'? Honestly if they are going to tour, I will be thrilled. If they do one last show, I will be thrilled. If they announce that they are no longer capable of putting on shows as a band, I will be disappointed but understanding.
They don't owe us a thing. Jagger can do whatever he wants! But to go on SNL without the Stones tells me that the band is having a BRUTAL time attempting to play together. They are getting old... I just hope they understand that its ok to take it a notch down, play more blues, write one last album, and play some massive final shows!
I for one am not expecting 78. I am expecting 2012. All of them are past their prime in terms of technical ability, but not musical output. If they'd try, they could produce one last beautiful record....
Well put, Drake!
love the drake.
But he needs to give the tv back, don't you think?!

...this is getting nerve-wracking...so now the Foos and Arcade Fire are confirmed as guests...and you still think (Max's KC guarantees it) that the Stones will be there and play? I don't know whether to be happy about Jagger's announcement or totally discouraged...

Can you give me three reasons to support your certainty?

Yeah, the inclusion of "among" raised my suspicions as well.

I am surprised how much of a kid this makes me feel like. It only rock and roll, but I still care, how funny... how fun. I wonder if some of today's "supposed music stars" fans will care this much about them (if they still exist) in the year 2050-2058, which will their 50th anniversaries?
