Claude Gassian's pics are top. Keith's sleeve on Rudolph Run is for me one of the best ever. I surely will be goin'.

I went to the show and imho it's rather disappointing. Too few iconic images (the RRRudolph cover pic from 1973 is here though) too many mundane ones.

I think the title of the exhib tells it all : CG and the guy who owns the place opted to show sequences of pix (2 or 3) of a same scene/event to create a movie-like thing. Imho again it doesn't work at all.

There's ONE amazing and new picture though : the one Gassian took at the 67 Olympia show as a member of the audience. The band's in the back and the neck of the guys in front of Gassian are blurry, at the forefront. Just great!

This could be the very 1st one he took of the band at the ripe old age of 16 or 17!

I first heard about Gassian in the well known french magazines of the 70's,
Best, Extra and Rock'n'Folk. Most of his pictures were published in Best, and yeah
I liked them and I still like them.
I've watched my first Stones exhibition in 1983, Gassian was already there

There's a great book with most of his rock pictures
that you should try to catch if you find it



Inside there's one of my favorite shot of Charlie holding his hat at The Airport which has been used later for some bootlegs.

Beside Tarlé, he's one of our best rock photographers

50 Euros le catalogue... mais limité à 250 exemplaires.

C'est un livre de "moyen" format ( = ni grand ni petit) et spiralé (ce qui ne se fait plus guère) et imprimé sur un papier très épais. Il tient BIEN en main!

Un bel objet à coup sûr... et si la promesse des 250 ex. est tenue, un futur collector!

PS : c'est Central Color dans le XVIè qui a fait les tirages [www.central-color.com] on peut donc voir que Gassian n'a pas lésiné sur la dépense! C'est somptueux!

Le catalogue est un peu moins beau que les tirages (le n&b est moins bien restitué) mais c'est très souvent la règle. Rien ne peut égaler la beauté d'un tirage baryté bien fait.

En tout cas si tu as déjà le Tarlé sorti en 2011 (?) le Gassian ira bien avec.

For BV the exhibition comes with an expensive super-limited catalogue (250 copies) and HM and I were weighting the pros and cons of buying it... Voila!

I think the place is not large enough to present Claude Gassian's Rolling Stones work.
The large formats are ...killer (very beautiful ones of Keith in Anvers 73,in NYC,...or Mick backstage).
Diptyques and triptyques needed bigger sizes in my opinion like the black and white triptyque of Mick on stage.
Anyway,I really enjoyed seing this expo because at each expo you discover new pictures you didn't expect (my first Claude Gassian expo was Espace Canon in 1983...)

Yes you can buy at the gallery. My memory is bad but I'd say Gassian prints are about €2000, while some of Tarlé's huge prints are about €7000.
