OT: The Story of Film. An Odyssey

This series is presently being shown on Norwegian TV. Movies made after 1970 seem all bullshit to me; the "Want see" movement with the masculinification (sic) of film; Bruce Lee, The Godfather, Jaws, The Exorcist, Star Wars, etc. How come? I picked up one clue before I turned off; the movie goers went younger. I like the experimental 60s, topped by movies like 2001 and Easy Rider...

If this was the series shown by Channel 4 in the UK the narrators monotone voice sucks any joy out of the love of cinema and he comes out with a load of pretenscious claptrap the rest of the time. I stuck the first few minutes of two episodes and gave up. Hated the thing, and I go to the cinema every week so I love films.

Yeah, a self pitying tone that didn`t underscore the content of what he was saying...

Yes, listen to some one talking with genuine passion about a movie they love and then listen to him.

I forgot Paul Merton did a series on silent film, I think it was 3 or 4 episodes. Watch that to see how it's done.
