OT: Recording equipment - Boss BR1600 vs Tascam 2488 neo

As much as I have tried to work with computer software recording (from Garage Band to Sonar), I am just more comfortable with hands on equipment. I have the old BR 1180 which I have been happy with, but I want to upgrade. Ease of use is very important to me, and so is sound quality.
So I'm debating between the Boss & Tascam, I would consider others.
I know the Boss is twice as expensive, but If I'll be happier with it, it's worth it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The Tascam has slightly better preamps but personally I'd steer you right back to the software!! Get a MOTU 896 and Sony Acid!
