Like the Scorsese debacle, this is a huge opportunity, the chance to make a film about a time and place and a group of talented drugged up musicians creating one the best rock recordings ever made. The reality of the situation down there that summer was, it was hot, it was soaked in drugs and music, they were outcasts, they dressed in heroin chic, they broke the rules, it was a soap opera. It was pure rock n roll.

My guess is, and I hope I'm wrong, Hollywood will turn out a bag o shite glamourising everything, focussing on all the wrong things and using all the wrong actors - they'll @#$%& it up beyond belief like they usually do. Branson, for god's sake give it to the Brits to make and don't miss the opportunity to make a classic film!

I will not allow that my 'head-images' about this period in Nellcôte are superimposed from such a commercial waste.
Even those who were there (Nellcôte) will be telling stories about it in different ways.
We have to accept that we were not there, and those movies/books (I read them all) will not bring us closer to intellectual/emotional truth.
It's just commercial entertainment. I give a shit to spend money for it.

There are quite serious biographies made by filmmakers in a DOCUMENTARY FORM but in MOVIES counts only the number of audience and than regular events in the story will be excessive presented.

But Richard Branson has the ass full of money and he's an old hippie ... maybe he craps on the commercial success in favor of a serious film.

Forget about the actors, et al. The book SUCKS. I can only hope & pray that they get a hell of a writer to adapt that piece of crap to turn into something that's not so idiotic. Of all the books written about the Stones, why Branson chose this shite is beyond me.

I actually picked up A Season in Hell at the library and started reading it last night. The prologue alone is probably some of the worst samples of writing I have ever encountered. One of the author's examples of what makes Keith so cool is that Keith added back the "s" to Richards. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Not sure if I'll make it through the entire book.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.
