I would say "Flip the Switch." But, "Highwire" is a great riff based number. It like some many others was a demo they dig out for the two new songs on "FlashPoint." Other then "Rough Justice," the Riffs are Mick's on ABB. Keith plays them live, yes. But, they are Mick's. Like "Don't Stop." Mick has done a number of great Riffs. "Sway" "Stop Breaking Down" "Winter" Most of "Some Girls." "High Roller" the song he did with Leslie West. He did have a great teacher. Keith was at the ABB sessions but, as he has admitted he only showed up with 3 songs. If they do another album I hope the 5 of them RECORD together. By 5 I am including Bill.
I agree with you Superheavy, it's a great song. The lyrics reminds me of an Aesop fable with all that animal imagery. The first verse is hilarious with the build up to use the word "cock" as a double entendre. Mick is having fun with that one and I like it.Quote

Rough Justice
Rough Justice ? A mediocre song in the first place, which then suffers the further indignity of being COMPLETELY and utterly ruined by the most awful lyrics ever penned ........... I mean what the f**k is the story with the first verse for example ? Ridiculous and thoroughly horrible !
One time you were my baby chicken
Now you've grown into a fox
Once upon a time I was your little rooster
But am I just one of your cocks
It's rough justice on ya
You're going to have to trust me
It's rough justice
But you know I'll never break your heart
So put your lips to my hips, baby
And tell me what's on your mind
I know you've still got the animal attraction for me
It's been a long, long time
It's rough justice on ya
We never thought it risky
It's rough justice
But you know I'll never break your heart
You're feeling loose and lusty
So if you really want me
Yeah, it's rough justice
And you know I'll never break your heart...Yeah
It's rough justice on ya
You think you really sussed me
It's rough justice
But you know I'll never break your heart
The first time I saw you, baby
You were springing like a young gazelle
And next thing I know, way down the road
You had me flying like a bat out of hell
It's rough justice on ya
Your eyes are too disgusted
You're going to have to trust me
But you know I'll never break your heart
I give you my positions
Don't want no oppositions
It's rough justice
But you know I'll never break your heart
Yeah
Come on baby Woo..
the best song on the album, and it came to keith in a dream just like satisfaction
very exile-ish
lyrics are great too. a very direct message to the hardcore from Mick
that the Stones were going to be roughing up the hardcore fan on
this tour, not favoring them like on Licks. A++

She Saw Me Coming has a great Keith-riff. Too bad they didn´t play it on the ABB-tour, after having rehearsed it several times...
Start Me Up? The mother of all riffs, but honestly there are douzins of great Keith-riffs after that:
- Mixed Emotions
- Terrifying (love that one!)
- Almost Hear You Sigh (due to the production it is buried a bit in the mix)
- Slipping Away
- Love Is Strong
- You Got Me Rocking
- Moon Is Up
- Flip The Switch
- Low Down
- Too Tight
- She Saw Me Coming
- This Place Is Empty
Not to forget all the great riffs with the Winos:
- Take It So Hard
- How I Wish
- Struggle
- 999
- Wicked As It Seems
- Eileen

3 of the 6 songs are the ones Keith showed up with. The other 3 are songs by Mick. Keith may play the opening chords but, they are Mick's song. The last 3 you mention are all start off with a rhythm base. Sway is a hard riff. Pick up a guitar and play it. I have always felt that Riff is a rhythm. Hence the word Riff comes from the word Rhythm. Even Winter in a slower way is a Rythmic based song. Apples and Oranges really. Keith has been a bit slack with coming up with a major Riff in some years. the man has left his mark. He has nothing to prove to anyone. We have though the years confused the, as Keith stated "the Road versions with the studio versions." JJF. I always think of the live version. YCAGWYW. The live opening notes.Even SFTD was played with a Riff, live in '69. I could go on. We are both right. Btw, the only other true Riff-Master to me is Tony Iommi. Bless the man.

You are right I do not know. I was not there. It's called over duds. Ronnie came in after the songs were finished. Charlie came in after the songs were finished. Keith has admitted to only having 3 songs when he showed up. Of course Mick did not tell Keith what to play. Keith was involved. He know longer wants to rock the boat. His book did not help with that. Then, again I wonder if the Media is not pushing the issue. But, over the past what? 16 years were has keith been? ABB was Mick's album. To me it is his best solo outting to date. Minus, Keith's songs. Plus Keith's wonderful solo on DB. Seeing them twice back in '05 it was apparent Keith was having a great time. Watching him was interesting. At times he would drop back, not really play for a sec and admire his work: The Rolling Stones. Who can blame him? Mick has drive. Keith is a different sort. he lets the day carry him. As he says Mick gets up with a PC in one hand and a Cell Phone in the other. Btw, have you heard the unedited version of some of ABB? The songs are better! Mick micro-manages. He cut the heart of out some of the songs. One last thing, at one of the shows, i was right over Ronnie's side of the stage. i could see everything that was going on back stage. Seeing them come up the steps and wait till Keith stroll at was the best. Keith was shaking everyone's hands Mick was loosing up. Charlie was talking with someone and Woody was beening attended to by his then wife, Joy.
