I doubt anyone dislikes axl dumbass more than me, but in this instance I respect his decision. I respect a man to make a choice to not be associated with (what should properly be called) the "Rolling Stone magazine hall of whatever" in Clevelend. I have read all about this Axl issue online, on other sites, and I see where most people on bashing on axl, calling him names etc etc..... but in his letter he made some good points without bashing on anyone. He was quite polite.

As far as the "tourist attraction in Cleveland", I have made my feelings clear about that place before.... it has little to do with rock and roll and more to do with... ah yadda yadda yadda...

Good for Axl... and that is the first and probably last time I will ever say that.

He's entitled to do whatever he wants...it's too bad that he can't get over the acrimony two decades later.

He has the name and rights to the band, why is he so pissed?

Calling one's former bandmates "lying dogs" isn't bashing in your opinion?

If you want to post the whole quote, I will reply.

Quoting people out of context is just rude, no matter who it is.

He wasn't calling his ex mates 'lying dogs' at all. He was using a tried and true turn of phrase to make his point, and then turned it around. ( Isn't it supposed to be sleepin dogs??) But IMO you got to respect his decision: he told about his initial feelings, and actually he sounds a good bit like Jagger at times in saying that "people get divorced from each other, and move on". I like that he will not be a pawn in Rolling Stone HOF's happy endings.

Look up the word "dickhead" in any dictionary, and you will see a photo of Axl.

I do love his Bo Derek like hair extensions and his Kenny Rogers facelift. He has that "leading man" look after the cosmetic procedures and should consider making movies because his music these days....blows!

I really really dont like Axl... I sided with Slash in this soap opera... imuho I think that Slash has all the moves most of the talent and all the class in the way he walked away from the GNR name ect... Slash moved on leaving dumbass Axl with the name... and Slash didnt/doesnt give one fk...

Slash is still out there doing "IT" today with a better lead singer... They are on the road playing world wide and kicking ass. I saw Slash live with his new singer/set up and they perform all periods of Slash career perfectly... and might I say Myles Kennedy sings Axl's part better than Axl.... But with all that said... I respect Axl for telling this thing in Cleveland to go take a flyingfkoff at itself.

Myles Kennedy a better singer than Axl?!

Nicer guy perhaps but not even close to Axl's league. Axl may have massive ego issues among other problems, but his singing skills cannot be questioned.

And that is why they make chocolate strawberry and vanilla plus 28 other flavors.
I wont go into a whole no win debate, but I think Axl is more of screamer squeeler while Myles is more of singer, and I should say Myles sings all the parts just fine.... as well as Axl and that other guy too(from VR).... just my opinion.

I edited to say "as well".... I think on the GNR album Appetite Axl sounded great, but live inconcert I cant stand his screaming.... on the LP it was fine, live was another story.

Ahhhh heck
They had a slim chance to be relevant again.

Regard the HOF or not it rekindles some careers.

So happy for them

The hall should just be renamed "Pop". Michael Jackson is great music, but he isn't Rock 'n Roll. Beastie Boys are almost entirely rap with an occasional funk/rock beat... Thats not Rock 'n Roll. Crosby Stills & Nash is not Rock 'n Roll.. The Hall is irrelevant. They are just stretching for bands/artists to induct. The Faces are a fine choice.

If they wanted to win back over the likes of me, they'd start nominating CURRENT bands that do, infact, ROCK...

The Black Keys
Black Mountain
Wooden Shjips
The Black Angels
Besnard Lakes
Arcade Fire

So many great bands have taken up the mantle. Gun n Roses SUCK. They sucked in the 80s. They sucked in the 90s. They suck now. The Faces are the ONLY redeeming part of that ceremony.

Oh oh... and the fact that GREENDAY is inducting them should speak wonders of the Hall of Shame. Greenday SUCKS.

Unfortunately, one isn't eligible for the RnRHoF until 25 years after one's first record.

Here's what I absolutely cannot understand:

Guns N' Roses' music is still wildly popular throughout the world.
The five original members had a unique chance to reunite for 15 minutes and give their fans one last glimpse of the past.

The HOF induction ceremony could have been a perfect forum for them to pay back the diehards. No agreements to a reunion tour, no agreements to a new album, no agreements to even like each other again. Just 15 minutes of balls-out rock, drop the microphones, sneer at each other and storm off the stage amongst roaring feedback. Done.

Their fans throughout the world deserved this small token of respect.

I say, @#$%& Axl Rose. I read his letter of explanation and I am pissed.
"Take that one to heart."

The R&R Hall of Fame is a load of meaningless crap.

I prefectly understand Axl's move. Like it or not, its the Appetite/UYI GnR band that everybody wants under the spotlights, not the current version. But for Axel, the one that counts is the present line up. The old one is history.

The HOF thing is quite a joke.

Why do you think I'm pissed? I only asked a question. I'm one of the few that agreed that Axl has a right to do whatever he wants.

Perhaps it needs a world-class @#$%& with ego bigger than Himalaja to make daring moves like that. But me likes! Well done, Axl! You got balls! The most rock and roll thing associated to that museum for ages.

Besides, the idea of inducting existing band including its ex-members and lot of not healed wounds between the two entities, is not probably such a great idea after all. The Blondie accident some years ago is a proof of that. And then was the question only of two ex-members being bitter. Now it would be Axl alone against the rest of the band of the classical days. It if the tension is real - as it seems to be - then we might have a total disaster in our hands. This is not a Disney movie.

Of course, we Stones fans have a dear place to that ceremony because that was the first public appearance of Mick and Keith after the "World War Three". The metaphorical re-union. But that wasn't Disney either. Cohl was shaking such an incredible amount of dollars in their eyes the guys never seen in their lives; so it was easy to be so "buddy-buddy" hugging and smiling there...

Then change the name and don't tour under it because you know what thats gonna bring about in people. They were given such a great chance to put it all behind them. Really its only Axl that still has to deal with it. The rest have moved on quite a bit, especially Slash. I understand the argument about not wanting to reassociate with people you hate, but by saying you understand and want to honor fan support then do exactly what everyone expected? Its just really really annoying.

Hard to say who is right without knowing the facts. I once read something from Axl to the effect that he was not only the legitimate owner of the name, he actually was a big part of what GnR was. He might even be right!

sorry if it's obvious (i don't follow these bands, or R&R HOF antics), but:
are the current members of Guns'R'Us (or whatever they're called)
being inducted along with all the ex-members? either way seems ridiculous

Having read the entire letter I thought Axl was actually quite reasonable.
