There's a few moments on the Four Flicks box set that I really adore.

At 2.52 in JJF from Twickers. I got the goosebumps seeing Mick and Keith going out on the side like that.




The first chorus of JJF from Olympia, until, and including, Mick starts singing again.

I love the Twix show throughout.

My favorite parts are in the extras. Looking at the dry erase board of songs being worked up is fun. Listening to the rehearsals and interviews.

This box set really is fantastic. They got it right, right from the start. They tried to do it again with The Biggest Bang but that was hardly writing home about. I actually hardly watch the stadium gig, myself.

"Going To A GoGo" - The whole song, but especially the very end. When they end all together, the whole band bursts into smiles almost as if happy that they all ended at the same time, no flubs/mistakes. And it actually looks like they enjoyed playing that song--that's sort of rare to see them have a good time during a song during these later tours.

The Four Flicks box set is an awesome treasure trove. I especially adore the documentary and the majestic live versions of MR and CHYMK.

The MSG disc is my favourite on FF. And on that disc I keep coming back to "When the whip comes down" on the B-stage. I like the energy on that one (even if it's hard to disinguish whether Ronnie is plugged in or not...). I think the Arena format (hockey arenas) is the ultimate format for The Rolling Stones.

I also like Four Flicks quite a bit. It had it all to show us The Stones in 02-03. PLus it was a BARGAIN at the time - fourty bucks for 4 DVDs was a deal in 2004! I bought the set with the added "green tounge" guitar pick (which I still have tucked in there).

Does anyone else remember the controversy behind the set when it came out? It was a "Best Buy Exclusive" - one of the first times I can remember a Huge arti$t making one of tho$e kind$ of deal$? HMV pulled all of its Stones CDs and DVDs out of their stores!

Its really too bad that they put out "Biggest Bang" as an uninspired redundant xerox of Four Flicks (with a LOT more self-stroking BS in it - where I started getting really annoyed with anything Keith says).

Too bad they didn't make the original Four Flicks though. The price would probably have gone way up on that special packaging, but it turned out a nice one still. The Biggest Bang is great too, but they dropped the ball a bit on that one. They should have included all of the Phoenix club show. The tracks from that gig that are actually on there are killer to say the least (Get Up Stand Up is awesome). Austin is great and Rio is nice. It just lacks that extra "something" that Four Flicks has.

Absolutely I remember. I recall all of us sort of pressured to buy it right away because it was such a "limited exclusive product" thinking that it would sell out or be pulled out of print. Meanwhile, ten years later I see the box set still in stores and sometimes on sale for as low as $5!

I like both boxes.FF is great.
But B.Bang has its moments too.Especially the filming in Italy and B. Aires . .

The documentary is the best thing about the Biggest bang set. I actually enjoy the Austin show...the first half anyway. Plus, it's wonderfully shot.

Yeah, I found it one of their nicest concerts from the surroundings.Those trees and the light made for a great atmosphere. And If you don't look too much for the od's it's a fine show.

Well,if you want to see it that way you could as well have given up on the Stones long ago. On the other side there are very nice things on BB as well.

Paint It, Black, Twickenham. Charlie is KILLING it.

Keith playing that electric riff in No Expectations at the Olympia while Mick tries to get him to stop. But the riff ends up sounding great.

There are many, many, more, including the ones already mentioned by others.

Ah yes, nice moment. It was supposed to be Mick starting off. You see Mick give Keith a stare that says, "Ok fine, go ahead start it..." I think that little flub throw Mick just slightly in those first few seconds of the song. When he approaches the mic to sing the first line "And take me to staaaation" he's rather sloppy in the delivery. He collects himself (maybe realizing that they were filming) and regains his focus for the next line "and put me on a train." Huge difference in delivery...kinda amusing.

Best moment from FF is Before They Make Me Run from Olympia.

BB does have its moments, especially Austin first half until UMT. Bob Wills, Learning The Game and ONNYA are mindblowing!

FF is great and TBB isn't quite as great but it's got a lot to love. I love the Austin show. To me, the Rio show sounds sloppier but still has a lot of great moments.

Possibly my favorite moment is simply the smile on Keith's face during 'Monkey Man' at the MSG show when Mick does that long drawl on the 'we love to play the blues line'. A favorite Stones moment indeed.

I maintain that in a way, if you consider various factors, this is the best product the Stones have ever released. We got 3 splendid concerts plus an enjoyable documentary, nicely packaged, and for the price of $29.99 (here in the US at least). Definitely their best release as far as filmed concerts go if nothing else.

I do wish they had included CYHMK from the Wiltern show as a bonus w/Beast of Burden, etc. instead of the weaker MSG version. At least we got it on Live Licks I guess.

Both are major self-strokefests for the band. Something they've been doing heavily since Voodoo Lounge. WHich is one of the reasons I hate The Rolling Stones.

Dunno about greatest, but I do enjoy Mick teasing the French audience as he sits down at the keyboard: "Ah... Qu'est-ce qu'il va faire maintenant?"

Four Flicks is fantastic. Biggest Bang has the spectacular Rio concert that rocks, but the overdubs on the Austin show are a sign of the brutal decline of the guitars. Flicks has some very good guitarplaying and Mick was awesome on the Licks tour.

What is often missed in Rolling Stones concert DVD:s is the public interaction. It's a pity because that hightens the experience and live feeling. Look at David Bowie's video from the "Serious Moonlight Tour" for comparison - great public interaction.

The bit where it shows them recording and then on to rehearsing (and a bit of Slave that's nice to hear), the stage design, all the work that goes into a tour, and then going in to Boston on the plane and Keith strolling up with them playing How Can I Stop and then to the opening bit...that was cool. Very cool. That's one of the best highlights of all of their video releases.

OK - I'm willing to conceed that the Austin show has some guitar overdubs. What I would like to hear from a truly credible source is which songs and which portions of those songs had to be overdubbed? Granted, you can't see keith and Ronie's hands at all times but wherever you can, it sure looks like they're playing what you actually hear. Is there any real DOCUMENTATION about the overdubs other than the little blurb about "additional recordings by..." on the packaging. I want inside info!

On FF my absolute favorite moment is right after they have finished that first club gig. The try-out. And they are all flushed still, piling into the van. Mick and Keith have completely reverted back to little schoolboys, and best friends. They are chattering away, all hyped up. And then at one point they quiet down for a second, then the two of them turn and look at each other and break into a grin.
I just see all the Lotus stages, and Maggie Trudeaus, Circus, Heroin all disappear, and it's just like "can you believe this?'
