whilst I was digitising a lot of CDs over the past days, I realised that another band that comes close to the Stones in my personal universe is the Einstürzende Neubauten.

I Guess they are as important to popular music. The passion, experimentimg, charismatic singer etc

Here are some of my favorites. I could post the whole 1/2 Mensch CD, because there s not a single song that is not in my all time favorite list, but here is a quick selection. Let me know what you think. I know this is kind of a blasphemy on a blues based forum, but the band is of such a great passion and IMHO got the feel.

Music wise not bad ..........although I understand German I don't what they are singing about

It's about sex and, hm sehnsucht is a very special German thing. it is desire, longing, yearning, but that doesn't really get it. But I think the musical side explains it pretty well

Oh, and here is what I think is a really great Rock'n'Roll thing ;-)

One of a few german bands with a huge influence in music history (beside CAN or Kraftwerk). The story goes that Depeche Mode got a lot ideas from them (incl original samples) when they both worked at Hansa - Studios in Berlin...
Not to forget the longtime collaboration of Blixa Bargeld and Nick Cave!

I very much like the Bad Seeds - although I can´t see a similarity to my one love The Rolling Stones - but no matter, most important is that it touches you.

Am a Neubauten fan too. They played a small place in Stockholm a few years ago, and when we were leaving I overheard a guy saying to his friend 'I'm really glad that you got to see them. They have been for me what the Rolling Stones have been for you'. No need to choose.
