What performers have worked their craft into the fiber of your life?

Maybe a question for the older fans? There are three performers when I reflect on it that have impressed me with different attributes, folks I have to see, and after 40 years of concerts I feel I have to go to regain some lost aspects of my youth and a sence of actualy paying tribute with my applause.

For me in order of influence:

1.The Stones, 72 takes me back to my youth and the Stones have delivered, every few years I get a shot of the glory days of R&R, Exile live!!! And a few tunes turned up loud before work sets my day off better than a cup of coffee. They give me shelter from the rest of so called rock bands.

2. John Prine, the man can paint a picture of a place, person or emosion with wit, hands down the best lyrisist going for my money, if you have not seen him live just follow along as the whole audience sings every word to his entertaining guitar style. I find you can quote any situation in life from one of his songs or of course Sienfeld episodes (lol). Not to mention his early work with Steve Goodman is a double treat.

3. Arlo Guthries, a true entertainer, a story teller in dialog and tunes, a history lesson in folk music as he explains and sings by example the links from father to Ramblin Jack (Stones influence), to Dylan, with a little ragtime thrown in for good measure.

Older fans try and come up with a couple, for younger fans I hope some musicians can do the same for you when it is time to reflect.

Either the Marx Brothers or the Faces, can't decide which.

As a 38-year-old I don't know if I'd be considered 'older' here or not, but here goes.

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
The Grateful Dead

I'm a musician, and these are the strongest influences I think for me. Their music has always inspired my own work more than the "Big 3" of the Baby Boomer Generation (earlier in my life Beatles/Dylan/Stones were very important to me, but Boomer Worship kind of ruined it for me).

Shitloads, really.

I couldn't give a "top three" but the Stones would be there no matter who else I chose.

Hmmm.. besides Marilyn Chambers and Vanessa Blue?

I'd say Dylan, the Stones and Diana Ross....
