There's no crying in rock and roll. If you need a good cry, try these.

Oh man, that last scene in Midnight Cowboy, on the bus....and that music:
Me and my mom were watching on TV once, and I glanced over at her, and she had tears in her eyes...she denies it to this day!
That's a great example of how music can evoke so much emotion.

Stones? No Use in Crying, cos Mick sounds like he's really crying.....

The only song that makes me cry is :
Your faith was strong but you needed proof

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight over threw you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor, you know
I used to live alone before I knew you
But I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

But there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me, do you ?
But remember when I moved in you
An holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah , Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
But all ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who out drew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah...

A little O/T but it is bringing tears to my eyes.

My 4 and 6 year old just requested I put on "Blowing In The Wind". They're now 'lip synching' to "Like a Rolling Stone".

True, it isn't the Bob Dylan recording, it's the tribute album Chimes of Freedom...but still...great taste!

This may seem weird - but earlier - Time Waits For No One was on - when I was a kid - a dog of our was stolen - TWFNO was the song in '77 I equated with the tragedy - it just seemed so poignant - today when i hear it - I think of mortality - friends I have lost - friends who are sick - family growing up - and I admit it - this song puts tears in my eyes.

(why am i telling you people this?)

(oh, right - because I really like a lot of you people)

anyway.

anyone?

Jumpin Jack Flash! Tears of joy!

I don't physcically cry for these songs, but No Expectations is especially heart rending, as I always think of Brian playing that beautiful, haunting slide for his own goodbye. An No Use In Crying came along when I was in such a relationship and it got to me.

Same here. Ain't No Use In Crying is one an underrated gem, saddest goodbye song ever. You want to stay, but you just can't take the pain anymore.

Wild Horses makes me cry, especially when I've seen it performed LIVE, on those few rare occasions...I confess, it did bring tears to my eyes. Also, seeing Mick & Keith sharing a mike singing " As Tears Go By" made me cry pretty hard, nearly ruined my make-up!! ( during the Radio City Robin Hood gig, March 14, 2006).

"Streets of Love" made me cry. I didn't think they could write a song so 'awfuuul baaaad'.

Hat's off to the lovely gentlemen here who mentioned the Stones songs/lyrics they played in memory of their wives.
So sweet & sad - those posts brought tears to my eyes.

Nobody ever cries a "good crying" when their heart is broken.

When I heard the opening notes of Sweet Virginia at the Voodoo Lounge concert, it was so unexpected, I started to cry.
