That's quite a show for some guys in their late 60's/early 70's! They've got a huge catalog so it's only fitting to space it out like that.

Mind if I share your anonymous tip with people at a Beach Boys board I visit?

My Live Nation source says the Beach Boys show will be approx 3 hrs. Not sure if that includes an intermission.

Sweet...bring it on!

Probably includes the opening act and intermission (hope I'm wrong)

Competition from who? The Beach Boys? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

For your information, the upcoming Beach Boys tour is one of the most anticipated tours of the year. Their original modest plan of a simple 50 date total worldwide tour has exploded into 50 dates just in the US. Many venues are complete sellouts which prompted them to add second shows and new venues in nearby towns to accommodate for the demand. The Hollywood Bowl sold out in just a few days....capacity 17,000.

They are also offering various VIP packages for each city with some mighty high prices...front row tickets, meet and greets and etc...ranging from $400 to $1500 (depending on the city)...all of the top 2 highest VIP packages are sold out in each city.

Whether you like the Beach Boys or not...suck it up...this tour is nothing to scoff at.

I understand your point. However, it's no where near competition for the Stones and the Stones have that stigma with their name - they seem to keep going. My guess is people are probably laughing at the Beach Boys going on tour. As in, they're OK with spending their money to hear something highly doubtful.

beach boys are no competition for stones.. there is nothing new in what mike love said. .he's aware of the reports the stones will tour.. he obviously loses nothing in putting the beach boys at the same level of the stones but the reality is just not that.

bythe way they were horrible at the grammys..atrocious. even with 20 backing singers who sang the leads

Right, in the meantime let's look forward to another tour of great guitar playing by Blondie...Keith.

People will buy the tickets to see them without expecting something great according to the cost.

It's instructive to note in light of this interview that the Beach Boys are off the road in the States by the beginning of August. As are most other big touring acts - Roger Waters (mid-July), Van Halen (late June), Dave Matthews Band (large break from mid-late July to early September), Coldplay (early-mid August), Ringo Starr (mid-late July), Def Leppard/Poison (mid-late July), Scorpions (mid-July). While Iron Maiden will be on the road well into August, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be playing a few dates mid-month, they'll both be in the Western US at a time when I expect the Stones will be in the East.

All this could simply reflect the ordinary holiday time, but I believe the conspicuous gap that opens in America in August is a sign that the Stones will be be playing there at that time, as they did on the ABB tour, which began August 21st. Kenny Chesney is also in Northeastern football stadiums (near NY, Boston, DC, and Detroit) in that timeframe, before the season begins September 5th, and Madonna will be at Yankee Stadium just after that date (after kicking her tour off in late August) - all venues that might be played by the Stones. While ABB went on for two months, I believe a shorter 50th anniversary tour would run several weeks from early-mid August (around the end of the Olympics) to at least early September (around the Labor Day holiday and beginning of the football season). They could then go West to California etc. in later September or save that for some time in 2013.

You've done a little research! What I'd like to know, in your opinion, is if this is true, when would be the drop dead date for a tour announcement. It seems that if everyone is basically 'clearing' their tour schedule to make room for the stones, that the word would be leaking out a bit more. Doesn't seem plausible there aren't any 'looser lips' out there.

Well if they can't sel lout in SoCal,they're not going to sell out anywhere. The Beach Boys still have a diehard appeal. It'll be interesting to see if the tour holds up quality and chemistry wise. If it does,I might take in a show.As for the Stones. I think Mike Love's comment was jsut a throwaway remark. It's been long specualted that it'll be later in the year if the Stones do anything.

I have been concerned that Mick might be leaning more towards putting more emphasis on 2013 rather than 2012. At least as far as actual touring goes. Might start later than we think. The 50th anniversary year starts on July 12, even though it is actually the beginning of their 51st year. Could be a year long celebration with the bulk of the touring and a new album actually occurring in 2013. Charlie's anniversary seems to mean something to Mick.

You're assuming that the key decision to delay plans lied solely on the Charlie anniversary. That date looks to be a footnote amidst the big plans here, regardless of what Keith has to say about it.

It'll be 15-20 shows across London, NYC, and LA in 6-8 weeks in 2013.

They don't want to compete with the current hype and the Olympics. They can't.

God bless the Rollin' Stones.

Thank you and goodnight.

Absolutely not. Lot's of factors I am sure, but it is convenient to "use" to buy them whatever time they feel they need. Doesn't really matter, they are going to do lot's of lovely things beginning with the book on July 12. Even if they ultimately just get together with Bill Wyman and maybe Mick Taylor sometime in 2013 and do a farewell show I will be more than happy. It would be televised most likely on pay per view and later released to DVD. A new album, the documentary, it's going to be a great year for Stones fans beginning on July 12.
