My mate Chris always used to think that in Stupid Girl Mick sang..."she purrs like a pussycat and she turns round as Mrs Bat".

For along time I thought the chorus to Drift Away went:

Give me the BEACH BOYS and FREEZE my soul I wanna get lost in your rock n' roll

But little did I know how many fellow eejits exist who also thought the lyric WAS Give me the beach boys...wow - how many mis-listening fools like me are there?. And I never knew the Stones did a version of this song...

One of my favorite's is attributed to my husband (who has some amazingly screwed up lyrics in his head)..."spent 3 lonely days in a brown paper maze - instead of spent three lonely days in a brown L.A. haze

Guess we all make mistakes. smoking smiley

p.s. for a long time, I thought Vic Damone's name was Victor Moan...maybe we need some kind of prize for the most screwed up listener...

There are many websites available that have the actual lyrics. I have to admit the worst song for me to interpret or figure out is Jackie Blue by the Ozark Mountain Devils. Some say it 's about a girl on drugs....whatever

i read somewhere the Jagger does that intentionally (mumbles lyrics), that he got it from some ole blues guy back in the day, as they used to mumble lyrics in blues songs

Especially on exile on main street. In contrast, for example, lyrics on TY are clear. Well Little T & A may need some clarification when first heard---

Thanks, Harlem Shuffler - I don't own LSTNT, so that Miss You is new to me (Good, isn't it.) And it's answered the other question floating around in the back of my mind: which bit of the "regular" lyrics is he replacing? The answer seems to be that he isn't - the band's in a groove that looks as if it might keep up for ever, so Mick's adding more words, like the great improviser that he is.

Apparently the first cut of the track Some Girls was 24 mins long...Mick said he was making up verses as he went - in between laughing -- eye popping smiley - God knows what got left on the 'editing floor'.........

MMMmm....... A 24 minute version of Miss you....Yes please!

I thought for a long time that "Dancing, dancing, dancing so free" was "Dancing, dancing, down the subway - dancing with Mr D"........Possible excuse....maybe a NYC idiosyncrisy I didn't know about.....

I met a woman and she told me...."well baby...... well the blues ain't bad"...........

Paint It, Black

No more will my green seagull go turn a deeper blue

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue

Thanks to Vanessa Carlton for giving me that one, in fact listening to cover versions can really clear lyrics up for you - except when they get them wrong like Guns n Roses Sympathy etc!

Cheers

It's All Over Now

"Playing her high class game" vs. "Playing her half ass game"
