This clip is fantastic. I'm a big fan of Mick Taylor's rhythm guitar playing with the Stones. Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask, but does anyone have either Prodigal Son or You Gotta Move ripped to video like this clip that they can post on YouTube or the like? I'm trying to stitch together a DVD from MSG and can't manage to rip the bonus DVD I have.

Here you go:

Oh well, just got the message that this one is "worldwide blocked" because of Abkco copyright. I wonder how I 'did' it with the Satisfaction video, which is (still) worldwide available! I'm Sorry Teddy, I gave it a try, but Abkco didn't allow it.

So I had to delete it, alas.

Ripping and posting official released stuff isn´t that clever,hm ?

Oh, Erik, don't burst a stoners bubble. We can all dream a bit, can't we? Yeah, I am always astonished they didn't play some of their best stuff from that period, like Monkey Man, and that they didn't put Gimme Shelter on Ya Yas. Strange.

I think The Stones - or any other band ever - have never been in such a situation than they then (1969) were in choosing their set list. They had so much a brand new red hot current material to choose from: the singles "Jumpin Jack Flash" and "Honky Tonk Women" and then all the material from BEGGARS BANQUET and LET IT BLEED.... All that there, never played before. So they naturally 'forget' some tunes. For example, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" was put aside to wait later treatment, and "Gimme Shelter" wasn't any regularity either yet. Was "Let It Bleed" played not until 1981?

But like I said in its own thread, it would have been such a thrill to hear a live version of "Monkey Man" during that guitar-driven era (in fact, all the way up to 1982). What a waste they never did that!

They often allow it explicitly. There's no fundamental difference between 'official' material and 'bootleg' material, because it all has to do with copyright. And there's not ONE copyright policy.

For example: I once got a warning because of uploading bootleg material and had no problem with the Satisfaction vid and other official stuff. So no need to sneer.

Who did ?
Neither a need to sneer nor to be really surprised about the demand to delete certain stuff.
Very simple.

People on Shidoobee who didn't attend got quite irritated and things got a little heated about all the secrecy. I spoke to one of the guests at the Wildwood gathering the following year and the person said that they had seen the full setlist's worth of footage.

I was at the benefit that nite and saw tyhe whole thing too. Most of it was in great shape, but a few were out of focus.
Albert sez he's like to get the footage out, but the Stones own 50% of the footage rights.
And we all know Jagger WOULD NEVER release anything that wasn't up to his standards.
So it'll never come out

BTW, it w2as a great nite and the footage was great to see. It would absolutly be the best Stones live DVD ever!!!!

Who said someone was surprised?
But let's face it: it's very strange that they allow one part of the same official stuff to be published (Satisfaction) and the other part of that same official stuff not (PS, YGTM). Or can you explain it very simply (irony icon)?

Of course you´re right...it is very strange what is allowed for a certain time and what has to be deleted for reasons not really understandable.

It´s a kind of try and error, hit and miss...

For some good reason I remember Bjornulf pointed out once in a while to avoid posting official released stuff in the Hot Stuff section.

I remember that as well, but posting a YouTube video is always allowed, since YT checks the decision and policy of the copyright owner. So posting a YT-vid has nothing to do with the well known and just policy regarding this site's HS-section (in which I didn't post the vid). Simple this time, ain't it?

Anyway, funny to see you trying to be more catholic than the pope.

I do get your point. No doubt about that. But I'm pretty sure that Bjornulf does allow all (relevant) YT-vids on his site. Or do you think he allows some (with bootleg material) and forbids others (with official material, but allowed by YT/the copyright owner)?

Btw: it's no shame to admit you're wrong. Even I myself am sometimes wrong (albeit seldom), but not this time.

I thought we had a nice and relaxed conversation. Evening has begun here, it's dark within about half an hour I guess. Have a fine evening too.

My advice: download the Satisfaction vid now it's still available. One never knows!

Thanks...by the way,are you going to watch the Euro ´12 with the Netherlands and Germany in one group with Portugal and Denmark ?
Remember the last championship in South Africa, beside the final the Netherlands did very well,so I think it will be a close race in this group...

...and I don´t have to download the clip.
I enjoy the yy´s deluxe edition ;-)

Of course I'm going to watch it and hoping for great matches and nice conversations here with you, Silver, Hansie from Limburg, Max from Kansas City, Carlitos from Tenerife and many others. I hope fans of Denmark and Portugal will join in too.

Well, we almost won that final, if Robben had held his head cool he certainly had scored. But 'if' doesn't really matter indeed.

I knew. Still it is nice to have it 'isolated' and watch it sometimes. Better version than the GS SF imo.

Without any doubt it´s a better version than the GS one.

Robben...yes,he had the opportunity,indeed.

Looking forward to...

I think that the best solo by Mick Taylor of the three versions at MSG is the one on the Film.Anybody knows where to get a High quality audio of that version?

That camera angle over Keith's shoulder is amazing.

But WHY OH WHY do we need to see the crowd so much? Who the @#$%& cares? I know what a crowd of people looks like and yes I assume they are grooving to the music.

SHOW ME THE DAMN STONES!

That performance of Satisfaction takes my breath away. When I mourn the loss of this band I watch that and am thrilled. Jagger is performing, but he is connected to the music, not merely waving his arm or shaking his ass. The guitars are not flailing away hoping the total is greater than the parts. Each one is making sense. Again, Taylor stays in the pocket for the most part. The result is fun, sexy and glorious. A delicious moment in time.

Sorry!!that´s the version . You´re right. But I´d like to have the Unedited version.

The deluxe Ya-Yas has an unedited version of this on audio CD, the first part of this was used in the DVD film version - up to the first break where it goes into MT's solo. It would be good to have a full high quality version of the second part of the DVD film version, if that makes sense

Then there's the deluxe Ya-Yas extras DVD version (the one where you can see Janis Joplin dancing), so that's another full version in high quality.

The only one we don't have a full version of is the 2nd Part of the Film version.

I was/am on the other coast. I saw the band a few weeks earlier on 11/8, 2nd. There is a video of Taylor's Satisfaction solo played that night. There was no Taylor solo on SFTD played that night. His LIV solo was still a work in progress. Generally speaking, I was enthralled with Keith's playing and thought Taylor's was a bit strange. Some 28 years later I listened VERY closely to the recording of that show and I could hear why I felt that way.

Good question. Yes, his playing was new to me, but I think when I say that I am referring to the LIV solo as a prime example. The FORM of Taylor's lead playing was something I did not grasp on the spot. Keith was easy to follow. You saw it, you heard it. The form of Taylor's snakey leads and fills was a different matter. It may have helped that I could easily see Keith, but my view of Taylor was not always as clear. As I said, listening to that show decades later, I could hear why I felt that way, but by then I was familiar with his playing. I would say today that the band was a work in progress at the time. Taylor had to find his spots. I do not find his playing strange at all on "Ya-Ya's."

I still don't really get what exactly they showed on that screening?

One complete MSG date (maybe some songs without picture as on the YaYA bonus) or material from all 3 MSG gigs ( plus Baltimore . .)?
Question is how much material there is altogether and which songs they have complete in film/audio.
Anyhow I love that tour and hope it will be released sometime not too far from now.

Yes, someday I think we will get a full shows worth of the 69 shows filmed in NYC and Baltimore from the Maysles/Stones/ABKCO. The film we have seen really captures what was going on with that tour, and as it reached it's conclusion the band so hot and had the arrangements down cold. Not only was band smoking hot, but they clearly were enjoying themselves at those MSG gigs. They KNEW they were nailing it. What was cool though in my opinion was the fact that the solos as the tour evolved changed a little bit each show from MT and Keith. For example, I have compiled all the Carol and Queenie numbers from the boots I have from the tour. The solos are never completely the same. True also with Satisfaction, SFTD, and LIV just to name a few. They just went out there, blasted away, and were willing to take some chances.

I agree with those who feel the setlist was fantastic. It was extremely well blended with the old and new. Wonderful Chuck Berry tunes, blues nuggets played accoustic and then electric. Familiar Jagger/Richards classics, surprise stuff from the new album. Having been at the night show in Chicago I can only say one of my memories from the gig was thinking what are they gonna play next? We had no clue where it was going. Mix in the fact that the early gigs were done before the release of LIB, and really the fans didn't know these songs from that album at all. MR was simply a knockout punch done mid show! A complete WTF moment. Where did THAT come from? Turning up the house lights to close with Queenie, HTW, Satisfaction, and sealing it with SFM was simply brilliant. No encore needed.

To this day it remains my favorite tour and most cherished concert memory.
