Any special plans for the Stones' 50th anniversary this year?

We have lots of special things planned, but I'm not telling you what they are! We haven't announced any shows yet, but I do hope that something happens, even though nothing's booked. There will be lots of lovely things.

When are you guys going to get back in the studio and record another album?

I've written a lot of songs, but I don't have any concrete plans.

Fan Club DVD's where only given out once. If you had multiple memberships in the Fan Club you still only got 1. If anyone got more than one they were lucky because those would had been sent out in error.

? I received the fan club DVD years ago. It came in a silver tin can.

I never got my DVD with two memberships. However, I've seen them recently on ebay for $7 if anyone is looking for one.

Wow, they're really doing a good job of keeping us guessing. I kind of hope they'll do something similar to the Brussels release and just put out a new record unannounced. That would be exciting.

even if it was just for a new DVD of a show from the 1975 tour or else, that would be ok with me.

Of course he isnt giving anything away, these following have been done but he isnt budging anything yet:

bookings are complete
they are touring, how long is anyones guess
they are now having a stage designed
rehearsals coming
tshirts getting printed

It will be great when they tour this time, there won't be as many fans, seeing as so many people here aren't really interested in seeing them live any longer. Great news for us folks who want to see them.

Using the Jagger-interpretation handbook, he clearly states:

(a) The Stones will perform live this year
(b) The Stones will not release a new studio album (that is not included in the 50th Anniversary thing).

But really looking for "lovely things" - I've been very satisfied what I have received already by now. Keep up the good work, and keep the vaults open!

Doxa I would be more than happy to share a drink with you at a show! I am just surprised you would put yourself through the agony.

Good comments Doxa and white8. This would be almost Utopian if it happened. Unfortunately I'm afraid the reality will be lots of people just wanting to see legends mixed in with some of us serious fans. Too bad we couldn't somehow get better field advantage or seats.

I can confirm through a source that what Jagger says about there currently being no plans for a tour is spot on - I prematurely hinted at this last week - that i had a bit of info - but since it is addressed here via his own comments I think it's safe for me to offer.

I have a feeling if anything happens, it will be a very short tour (big cities only and probably stadiums) where they'll just run through the hits (16-17 song set) with the usual cast of characters backing them up. Hope I'm wrong, but right now it doesn't sound like anything more ambitious is in the offing.

If there's no real tour planned and only a few small gigs then my fears will be realised and very few fans will get to see them. It's cynical to say, but that's probably what will happen. On the bright side I suppose I would save a load of cash. Someone said have no expectations, I think they're right.

Q: The Stones started in the blues, and you're obviously a huge fan. What do you think of the state of the blues now?

A: I don't really know what the state of blues is right now, to be honest.

And so ends the debate of whether or not the Stones are 'blues'....

A: My album that I listen to is the Black Keys' El Camino, which I like very much.

He's got taste! Black Keys and Foo Fighters are two of the best rock bands around today.

If this runs out in the sand (no tour, no new CD): Couldn't they have spared us the agony and quit after the last 2007 show? More books? We have it up to our necks with that pulp literature...
