Precisely. The Stones are still not mainstream enough to be thought 'suitable' to represent GB and Floyd just don't do foottapping pop music these days.
No. besides the inevitable Macca and Ringo, look forward to Tom Jones, perhaps Phil Collins and then whichever dumb boy/girl band can attract the most screamers to give the event 'atmosphere'.
Oh, and of course the Spice Girls will reunite with David Beckham making a guest appearance to shake his ass for a few bars.
But I shan't be watching any ceremonies or other garnish. I shall record what I wanna see and replay it fast forwarding through the dross/ads/excuses for traffic chaos, etc.
When the Stones say NO, buyer beware. Let's let the murkiness clear before we put this one to bed.

Pink Floyd, regardless of their music being better for this event, aren't doing the 2012 Olympics yet alone any live shows this year. They made that clear back in January.

Chosen over the Stones. Stones have said NO long time ago!! How can you be chosen over somebody that doesn't want to participate?? They have a hard time finding any "old" artist - Macca Wacca is probably the only one who wants. Macca wacca does everything to get fame - goofy boy.
