I thought the exact same thing. Non-season ticket holders are shut out from getting seats up front in the "pool circle"

Wonderful. Thanks everyone, esp. Gumboot - I forgot these dates were being announced today.

That's a heavy travel schedule, isn't it? I hope everyone holds up well. I'm not being negative but these are guys pushing 70.

It is a pretty heavy schedule. I notice they have a 6-day break after the Hollywood Bowl show...sure wish they'd add a Greek Theatre date in there somewhere!

Mike Love looks his usual constipated self.

Why Brian Wilson bothered to work again with this tool, god only knows

Clarkston, Michigan is nearly as big. It's the former Pine Knob, with 8,000 pavilion seats and lawn seating for another 7,000. Never had much luck getting really good seats there, but I'll take a shot. I'll definitely be there, somewhere.

Now, if only Buffalo Springfield would do a tour like this, I'd be really happy!

I've never had really good seats at the Bowl, either. I noticed tickets are $170 or $40...nothing in between! Guess it'll be one of those shows where I'll just be glad to be there. Better dust off my binoculars!

That can't be right. I'm sure that's just the price range They start at $40, and go up to $170. They'll post all the in between prices as the on sale date gets nearer.

Re: The Hollywood Bowl - The bench seats to the side of the Garden Boxes aren't bad if you can get them, and they are usually a lot less money than the boxes. For Tom Petty we paid $99 for those seats and face value for the boxes, which were right across the isle from us were $250.

Tatters -You know what's weird is the fact that the separation of haves and have nots has disabled those wanting tix at a discount price from overpriced offers from Stubbhub for example has diminished chances of seeing the concert itself. For example I wanted to see the UNC at Miami B-ball game tonight in Coral Gables- but not not at $100 up a ticket. I'll simply will view the game on ESPN -whatever channel- (ESPNU ESPN2 or ESPN). Samsung huge TVs and HDTV compromises the lost chance of seeing a live event. Simply too old and work dependent to sit in cheap seats -especially for a college b-ball game. Thanks for the good post!

I hope it's not right! A few prices in between would be nice.

Here's how the prices are listed on TicketMaster as of today...

US $29.50 - US $152.50
US $29.50 Ticket + US $11.00 Fees =
US $40.50
US $152.50 Ticket + US $18.10 Fees =
US $170.60

I've never seen the Beach Boys...mainly because the band has been so splintered for decades.
Is it worth taking a 12-year old or will her expectations be diminished?

I wonder what the setlist might be like. Brian's band usually offers up a few surprises, but the last time I saw Mike Love's Beach Boys (2001), Good Vibrations was one of the newest songs they played. With a couple of exceptions (Do It Again; Kokomo), it could have been the same setlist they played when Pet Sounds was their current album.

Is she already a fan of their music? If so, by all means! (Even if she isn't, she'll probably still dig it!)

Brian's band is excellent and they're really committed to his songs...a great group of musicians. I've seen him solo several times the past 10+ years, and saw the Beach Boys (with Carl) many times before that. Not sure what the set list will be like on the tour, but I hope we get some deep tracks (which Brian does frequently) alongside the hits.

I saw the Beach Boys in the mid '70's. They were quite good (Brian was with them) but Dennis' drumming was erratic. I think they will surprise us during this upcoming tour.

She loves them! That's why I don't want her to be disappointed...

She'll love it then! She'll know the songs and they'll be performed not only by most of the guys who sang on them originally, but by a great band who can play almost anything in the catalog. Plus there's the little added bonus of Brother Brian, the primary composer, being on stage. It's a historic event, and likely the last time these guys will all perform together. Like I said in another thread, I just wish Carl would have been around for it...and Dennis, too.

She'll have a great time, no doubt. The music still comes alive when they're played by these guys...total pros--as you saw during the Grammys telecast. Mike Love's voice still sounds like it always did..so your daughter will definitely recognize him when he sings lead on those hits. Considering this will be the most cohesive version of The Beach Boys to tour in a very long time...this might be the best tour to catch them on for both you and your daughter!

I always thought they were weird in that they are a band based on a "theme" - surfing and beaches. Like a prom. Can you imagine the "snow ski boys" who wrote material only around the idea of alpine fun?

This doesn't sound like a surfing song to me.

And this one (from 1962) isn't just a song about the ocean.

They did car songs in the early days too.

And girls. I don't think they ever stopped singing about girls.

In fact, they started doing alittle more than just singing about girls...
