The entire Stones CD back catalogue is in the bargain bins, and Zeppelin and Bowie. There are all at mid price so that it is not true to say they've always been full price. CBS issue them as mid price and Virgin sold them at £7-8 as well. Only The Beatles and Pink Floyd have kept there full price and I think the last series of reissues saw to that.

Both the Beatles' and Pink Floyd's albums are available as mid price, too.

Grandpas and Grammys?

I can't help thinking watching the 86 clip how an 86 tour would have turned out. Ok, Dirty Work was crap but one or two songs from the album wouldn't have hurt the setlist that much. Maybe an 86 tour would have been a bit rawer and less polished than the 89 dito? Who knows?

I see Stones, Zep, Beatles, Floyd as low as $16.99 and goes up to $29.99 for whatever double albums. None of those are a 'bargain'.

AC/DC's prices start at $7.99. Much more realistic.

You know, that's a really good point. Voodoo did have a big push behind it. And the Grammy's are all - and only - about who's noticed the most, not about quality. How Voodoo Lounge or the video won a Grammy is beyond me.

I got my CBS Stones in the early 90s at £7.25 each with postage. All the single Zep albums in a promotion working out at £5 each, 2003. The Stones have heavily discounted their back catalogue in the past as have Zeppelin. I got all the Beatles single CDs in the late 90s for £10 and the Blue for £20 which was about £8 off.

The Stones catalogue has been sold heavily discounted and has not been put out at premium prices always as stated above, which was my point.

Incidentally all the early ACDC CDs in digipak reissues, got the lot for £5 each in 2003. The double live was £7 though !

All of the Stones/Beatles/Floyd/Zep reissues, not the shitty original CDs, are quite pricey in the U.S.

The Grammys know something we don't. Just goes to show much Stones fans care about the Grammys.....most of us didn't even know about this.

It's like the great actors or directors that are ignored for decades of stellar work and don't get the oscar.

Then, later in life, AFTER they've received the Lifetime Acheivement Award, they get an oscar nod for something that seems pedestrian. There are probably loads of examples, but John Wayne in True Grit comes to mind. Not that he didn't deserve it, but I think that was more of a way for the Academy to play 'catchup'.

Same for the Grammies, IMHO, with Voodoo Lounge. Or Jethro Tull winning in the Heavy Metal category.

I'm not even going to guess that the Stones truly care about Grammy's or about being noticed that way when you consider what they've done for the entire music industry as a whole - their inventing or improving of promotion/hype, some of the videos they made, the tours and everything that is involved with that (sound, stages, etc) yet alone their studio work and of course the records they've set over the years with attendance, sponsors, amount of jobs they've helped to create out of necessity, engineers (studio and live) improving techniques on top of being one of the best live bands to ever exist - do they really need awards?

They're well known and respected for all they've done. Awards are like streetcars, they come and go...
