Brian Jones had allegedly injured his hand in a domestic dispute, which forced the Stones to pre-record the two songs they had scheduled.
Wasn't all the performances on Ed Sullivan singback anyway

I read in another thread that you recommended Terry Rawlings Who Killed Christopher Robin
Aha! There we have it. smiling bouncing smiley Rawlings. Brian Jones - the decadent popstar who wanted to die and was a pesky shit to everybody. I know I have seen Stoned as well. grinning smiley

Oh dear - now His Majesty has taken his ball (and all his pictures) and gone home, so we can't play any more. It's his thread and he has the right to ask for it to be deleted, I suppose, but there's a lot of other people's work, writing and pictures in it (and NOT all of them about Anita!) - so it's a pity that a good thread should be destroyed by a spat like this.

What's the big deal, HM? Why do you want the thread deleted? It's a great thread.

I'm always puzzled, and slightly bemused, by people who let something as benign as a blog about their favorite pop group get personal. It's fine to be passionate and respond so, but for laughter's sake, please, we don't need to attack each other personally.

Nah, not that bad. I was mean. grinning smiley Parts of Terry's book is actually ok. But I find Goldman's book to be pure shit. 700 pages of tabloid gossip.

Ok, here we go:

I thought Terry was the big Brian-oracle when I bought Who Killed Christopher Robin and Terry still act like he is in interviews - even the ones where he contradict himself and make things up. After reading his book I got the impression that Brian Jones must have been the biggest POS in music buisness in the 60's. The article in Mojo in 1999 didn't make that impression any better. But it became pretty obvious, after reading other books and articles on the subject, that Terry is more obsessed with portraying Brian as this weird, decadent, sex, drugs and rock n roll character than he is to give his readers a fair glimpse of who Brian Jones really was. The fact that he decided to use a fishy guy as Tom Keylock as a main source to his murder theory during the last chapter is plain ridiculous. I don't know what Terry's motive is since there can't be that much money involved. But I think that his first hand meetings with Tom got to his head. Judging from all those pictures he have of himself in later editions of his book I bet there is something wrong up there.

That said; I have NO romanticed picture (as 24FPS brought up earlier) of either John or Brian. They are known to have been complicated guys who were shitholes at times. Both were flawed, insecure, drug addicts, abusive and had problems on taking responsibility. But there's plenty of proof out there to show that there were more to them than the decadent one-sided things Goldman and Rawlings wants us to buy.
Aftel's book is probably the best Brian bio there is. The second one IMHO is Laura Jackson's Golden Stone. She defend Brian too much and should be taken with a grain of salt but she has gathered a whole bunch of quotes and anecdotes from people who met/worked/lived with Brian in one way or another and that is a goldmine for a fan.

I hadn't read that thread until now so I don't know neither the ins & outs ,nor why His Majesty had deleted his posts -I always enjoy reading your posts ,His Majesty ,because they are always interesting.
Anyway, I would agree with the following quote <<He -Brian- was maybe - just speculating here - a narcissist, borderline or maybe bi polar with a drug problem and huge insecurity. At the same time he was being manouvered out of the band and had to deal with Mick Jagger.

I founded some photos from Anita and Brian;they might have been posted before but I don't think I ever saw them .The lookalike is amazing :
