No it's a 355 mate! Meaning block inlays, the same Keith uses but red and with the old tremolo/vibrato left, not a Bigsby. I prefer the 355's before the 335's, the more the better when it comes to 50's and 60's Gibsons!!!

Keiths white one is a 345 not a 355.

In my guitar-world there's only 4 brands listed for electric guitars and that's in this order also:

Fender
Gibson
Rickenbakker
Vox (try to guess why)

so top of the bill is to run over some -54 Stratocasters for me..

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield...

That's not a '54 stratocaster.

That 60's strat looks pretty fine to me. At least it's got the same coloring as the 54's that I have seen! I have a bunch of strats collecting dust and rust, nothing earlier than a '64. A Tele and a Jaguar from the 60's too.

I like Gibsons best these days and my electric kit includes a coupla Les Pauls, 1971 Deluxe and 1979 Custom and for hollow bodies an ES125T and an ES175 both from 1957. My Gibson amp dates back to 1937 and still works like a hot knife thru butter. Lots of others Ibanez, Rickenbacker, Music Man, Kustom, etc but they are played less often.

Peace

ok corrected the word. it's been a while since I even looked at it....I'm guessing you have at least one red Gibson SG Mathijs?

It's 'Rickenbacker', not bacher or bakker. Never liked them though...

Mathijs

Nice. Have to get me one of those big semi-hollow body Gibson electrics one of these days. In the meantime my Gibson Dept. consists of a '57 LP Jr., a '61 2-pickup Melody Maker, a '63 SG Special (Pete Townshend type), a '64 Country & Western and a '71 J 160E.

btw: I want that '61 Melody Maker...just played a 1960 Les Paul Special today,..it was like this neck from heaven attached to a pickup....not much else....peace

The 2-pickup version MM is a thing of beauty. Though I had the pickups replaced with P90s that fit into the same slot as the original single coils, with the black covers still on them. So it sounds and plays like a 2-pickup Junior but half the weight. Great travel guitar.

Tele, if you ever get the 872 miles down the coast to Santa Cruz, check out Sylvan Music right on Hwy 1 . The place is relatively unknown but they have a vintage room that always blows me away, 60's Gibson SG's and Fender Tele's and Strats , 50's Gibson semi-hollow bodies a boatload of superb Martin acoustics. The guy is expert at re-setting the necks of old Martins and has a great inventory of VERY playable instruments. Of course lots of the boutique top end acoustics like Santa Cruz, Larrivee and my personal favorite Goodall. Fender Champ and other black face and tweed vintage amps too. Whoo Hoo!

Just playing anything in that vintage room sets up such great sympathetic vibrations in everything hangin' on the wall it's worth the trip. peace
I'll have to check that shop out. Not too far as the unladen swallow flies. [www.sylvanmusic.com]

Guitars in Denmark Street are way overpriced but it's nice for window shopping.
might as well start here:
