Well, then this is the perfect place then isnt it?.... because it appears that there is not a lot of love for the Stones on this board, based on what people post anyway.Quote

I thought it was impossible to love VH and the Stones at the same time

that reminds me....
You know one of the best things about the Hampton show? SEVENTEEN DOLLAR TICKETS!!! Remember how we thought $17.00 was a high price back then? Only $17 dollars, heck, that is the ticket bastard fee these days (or should I say that is 1/2 the ticketbastard fee)

I got the new CD and damn it, they put out a great release, the single is by far the weakest track....it is very heavy, even for Van Halen.

If only they had kept some cases of vintage shirts... did you see my edit above?

Thats crazy Max! You could make a cooler shirt than that for far less money, who cares if it's not the original, you're gonna wear it , not screw it, right? Chris Fritz...that brings back the memories, he was quite the midwest promoter in his day wasn't he? I heard he got beaten down by the big guys in later years, his story would be a good one for a book. I remember meeting him once around 1980, nice fellow but a bit cocky and headstrong.
I met with him because I promoted a show in Columbia MO where Head East and Eddie Money played. We were just teenagers but made about $25,000 profit on the show and thought the world was going to be easy after that.....ha ha lessons learned the hard way. We payed $7,000 for the bands as I recall, had to come up with $3,500 up front to get them to commit to the venue. It was a different time. Mr. Fritz was good to us that week. Thanks for the memories Max, you rock! peace

Heard the new Van Halen album on the weekend and must say it was a surprise; was expecting a middling effort, given the lenght of time they'd been saway (last studio album was 1998!) - and the single "Tattoo" didn't promise much.
The album rocks! Some seriously good tracks on there; I know, a lot of older demos/riffs were resurrected and used, but if so they chose some damn good 'uns. A mighty fine album and exceeded all expectations I had for it

I broke down last evening and bought tickets for VH tonight.
Am I an idiot?
The last time I saw them, 30 years ago, they really pissed me off.
I'll let you know how it goes...

Thanks Mr DJA and Max'sKC for reading.
Yeah, I swore I wasn't going either...
We'll see soon enough!
They BETTER NOT let me down again.
BTW, My seats look fantastic! Lower level closer than middle, third row off the floor. Strange business, ticketing is!

Wasn't the photo on the back of some VH album taken on a Stones stage when they were the opening act? DIVER DOWN maybe?
