I like it, aside from it's over compression. I'm hopefull the CD will be great.

Thanks for the song post!
Sounds like it's not just overly compressed, it's distorted, as if the uploader of the video somehow screwed up.
Anyway, I dig it for the most part. Just to hear David Lee Roth on a new VH song is great. His voice is definitely fine here. Lotsa classic VH ingredients, even some subtle 80ish synths in the background. The only thing I don't like is the hardcorish bass sound (I prefer the softer tone of Mike Anthony's old basslines), and perhaps the seemingly banal subject matter of "Tattoo" (I prefer The Who's Tattoo, or the Stones Tattoo You, after all).
If, like keefriffhard4life says, many of the songs on the album are better than this, I'll buy it.

I think it's pretty weak.
Sounds a bit ZZ Top like but the "swapmeet sally" section just doesn't fit and the chorus is nothing but a few Tattoo's and Ed goes through the motions of a standard Ed solo.
Those songs/ideas that didn't make it on the earlier albums didn't make it for a reason and that is that they were not as good as other things they had and if the single and album are just rehashed old stuff that didn't make the grade the first time around then it's not a great sign.

Good for them they have a new album and video ready. But how about the Stones? I guess threads with titles like "no need for a new album" do not exactly motivate them to come up with something new, to say the least.
Check the video from the club show they did last week. His voice is shot.Quote

Better sounding preview on Itunes. Sounds good with a blast from the past sound. Wonderful what technology can do to David Lee Roth's voice to make it seem like the Eighties again. Saw him singing live a few years back and his voice is shot in reality.

I saw VH on their last tour (with DLR). I'm glad I went, but I think I'll sit this one out.

That sounds good to me! F-vuckin American rock and Roll, that guitar of Eddies' never seems to dissappoint me when it comes to tone. The video is pretty damn cool too. Looks like DLR got some new hair, he's ok with his dance moves..whatever, but Edward can play some exciting shit and Keep it rockin YEAH!
I'm hapy about this one, thatnks for posting. Van Halen is back with a smile and it's all about more about the music this time. Love the way the tune ends. And importantly, even if it's not the orig line up, it has always been the EVH - DLR chemistry that is most interesting to me. peace.

DLR is a bit painful to watch these days, but i'll still take his singing over Hagar (nothing against Hagar...seems like a likeable guy, had a blast at his restaurant in Vegas...just don't care for his singing).
